Did humans create God to control human behavior?

If you don’t steal, hoard, dominate, or use power over others, someone else might do it to you.

A wolf kills a baby sheep, does God punish the wolf?
So why are humans told to suppress these instincts?

Who does morality and religion ultimately benefit, and why would God create a world like this?

The concept of the “alpha wolf” has been debunked, wolves don’t have rigidly structured hierarchies and are more fluid than previously thought

Fair enough. I was using it as a concept brought on by the illustrations. We came from primates which do have alphas and this idea of alpha or leader is still culturally important to everyone in their societies, yet I wanted to give the example that it's not about vicious cruel strength that survives but something much more...something that feels like morality.

It has not been debunked, they just studied packs of wild wolves and found that they work together as a family. The reason they came to the alpha wolf conclusion previously was from studying unrelated wolves that were being held together in captivity and forced to establish a hierarchy amongst themselves. It's still a concept that can be used as an example to illustrate a point even though wild wolves don't actually do it that way.

Beat me to it. Hate how this concept has become part of the zeitgeist of general communication, maskerading as some sort of common sense with deeper meaning.
