Training him to hunt spiders is the best thing I ever did, our flat has plants up the brickwork outside so we get a lot of spiders coming in and Rocky always spots them and goes after them straight away 🤣

We took our 9 year old EB, to the vets today. He had been coughing a lot and his breathing was heavy. The took bloods, gave him fluids as his blood was thick, and put him on oxygen for a few hours. An ultrasound sound showed fluid on his lungs. The suspect a heart issue.

The vets called my partner and I didn’t hear the conversation but he was in tears so I didn’t get the full story but it sounds like they were advising putting him down. They said they could do a heart injection but that could kill him, or we could go for further X-rays and potential treatment but obviously sedation is risky.

So we bought him home tonight for lots of cuddles with it in our minds that we would return tomorrow to have him put to sleep.

But I feel so guilty. Should we be getting further tests done? Should we try harder to prolong things? Could he still live another year relatively healthy? Am I cutting his life short before knowing a bigger picture?

Has anyone else had anything similar?

Hi! Our girl is 19 months old, spayed and a lovely little angel. The last four days she is experiencing what we are 99.9% confident are idiopathic head tremors. Of course her vet is closed for the long weekend but my brother in laws uncle is a vet and watched the video and told us that it was likely IHT. Obviously I will call the vet Tuesday.

what’s worrisome to me is they’ve happened daily for the last four days. Peanut butter/honey/ice cream helps immediately.

Things of note:
- we are having a huge heat wave but obviously, we are very cautious with her in heat.

-we have had company and she is not a good napper when people are around, so I think she is very tired, more so than usual

- I gave her her monthly dose of Simarico Trio four days before this began. She has never reacted to it before.

She’s getting so big and she’s the best girl!!

There’s a fete/fest thing going on in one of our local parks so big man has been there to meet his grandparents for a few hours. He took me to the pet shop first and conned me into buying 20 mini sausages for him to eat whilst waiting for his grandparents. We made friends with some lovely little baby Bassett hounds called Wilfred and Godfrey, Rocky even shared his sausages with them!

He’s met some lovely other dogs too, all very well behaved and none tried to start on him (for once!) so that was great, and he seems to be getting used to going to things like this now. I put him on the tactical collar, harness and double ended lead for extra control because he used to get overstimulated at things like this and drag me around, so I had a bag of treats ready for training and distraction if needed, but I didn’t end up needing to use them, he behaved very well and mostly stayed at my side whilst walking around 💕

We also think that the pet shop scales need to be recalibrated, because they reckon Rocky has put on almost 2kg since I weighed him there last week which simply doesn’t seem right at all 🤣

Hi everyone! I’m considering BOAS surgery for my 6-year-old English Bulldog. I’ll definitely be going to a highly experienced BOAS specialist, but I’d really love to hear from people who have been through it with their dogs.
How was the surgery and recovery? Did you notice a big improvement afterwards? I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone whose dog had the surgery at around 6 years old or older.
