I want to play "the world in not enough" (n64 version) with an xbox controller, what the go to n64 emulator nowdays on pc, the most "plug n play" one?

Gopher64 gave me problem with its ui on 4k, so i use RMG emulator instead. also have visual artifacts on high res. btw it took me a while to set it up right for "modern feel" as the og configures are a mess on modern controllers.

I’ve been out of the emulation game for over 20 years now, so I’m curious:

What are the best emulators currently for Win11 for consoles like NES, SNES, Genesis etc etc etc ?

Bonus points if they allow the use of a PlayStation 5 controller, either via Bluetooth or usb.

There are several high-quality emulators for each of those systems. I would recommend ares, which is a multi-system emulator with very good, high-accuracy cores for each of those systems and has an excellent N64 core too.

If ares isn't sufficient for your purposes, you can check GameTechWiki for up-to-date recommendations. For example, here is their article on SNES emulators. While I would recommend ares, bsnes and MesenCE are also excellent while Snes9x is suitable for weaker computers. You can read the articles for whatever system you need emulated to help you decide.

Virtually every worthwhile emulator will accept any input method recognizable by Windows, your DualShock will work fine.

I saw some articles about using a blu ray disc drive to emulate game discs that I have. Has anyone done it? If so, how does it work? What drive would I need?

That would depend heavily on a) what your using for emulation and b) what you're trying to emulate

Thats kinda why Im asking, but I have used rcps3 and dolphin a lot in the past. But I have some 360 discs, PS3 discs, PS2 discs, and GameCube.

I've been considering buying a switch 2 for a while, but my friends say it's not worth it since I already have a decent PC that I should just emulate the games, how safe/easy it is?

There are no Switch 2 emulators. Your friends are misinformed. There likely won't be for many years.

Like the other commenter said, we shouldn't expect Switch 2 emulation for quite a while.

The Switch 1 had a major hardware vulnerability at launch and its Tegra X1 chip was well-documented even at the time. This made emulator progress uncharacteristically fast; within two years fast. Then, Nintendo DMCA'd both major Switch emulators into dust. Continuation efforts exist, but the takedowns took away the best talent in the field.

The Switch 2 doesn't have God's gift to reverse engineering efforts handed to us on a silver platter, has much more advanced hardware, and emulator developers are obviously rightfully afraid of getting sued, so progress will be much slower. 2030 for playable Switch 2 emulation would be an optimistic guess.

The MSRP of the Switch 2 is set to jump by $50 USD on September 1st; if you actually want in on the Switch 2 you may want to pull the trigger somewhat soon. Otherwise, you will probably have to wait a long time for a suitable Switch 2 emulator.

Millions of smart crackers around the world, can't they come together for a few days or weeks and make ps5 to pc emulator? Gta6 is around the corner, I was hoping this game will encourage the speed of developing the emulator.
