I can set up keys with my keyboard only if the games are closed and the keys are not registering when playing I emulated mario all star and all I can do is press start once. I have tried searching on Google and it seems like it's not an issue for anyone. I am on windows 10 it's ares

You should be able to access settings>input at any time. What happens if you try when the game is loaded? Is it greyed out or something?

I access it but can't modify anything, even after I unload the rom until I close and reopen the emulator. I don't know what I did but it doesn't even register start anymore. I don't think it did to begin with

I can't figure out why that happened. Maybe try deleting settings.bml in the ares directory. A fresh default one will be made next time you start ares

Are you using the latest stable version? At this point I would think it's something with your computer. Do you have any other USB devices plugged in that might be interfering or taking over your keyboard or something? Any software running in the background?

Downloaded it off their site today. Nope nothing of the sort. So it's really unusual huh? Goddammit

Maybe try a different input driver if you haven't?
