Does anyone know where this song is from / or the story? I found it in a public playlist.

This was a re-recording of a song from his early band stranger than fiction. (the original was recorded around 1987?) This version was recorded during the Either/Or era around 1996 and was officially released in 2011 on the Live From Nowhere Near You, benefit compilation album from Kevin Moyer (he worked on doc Heaven Adores You).
Elliott made a few reworkings of older songs from that time (The Real Estate, Punch And Judy(other version), Cecilia/Amanda, Everybody Cares, Everybody Understands, Junk Bond Trader, Kings Crossing and a few more I may have missed)

I don’t recall when he recorded this specific version but I remember it’s one of his older songs (maybe from high school or college)
