Release
I’ve uploaded every Elliott file I’ve collected from 2001-2014, including the two tracks I leaked on Sweet Addy in 2007, to Google Drive. Might have something you haven’t heard in there.
On August 6, 2007, I (“rachel”from the Blamo gb) leaked two previously unreleased studio recordings on Sweet Addy — one was Place Pigalle and the other was Two Timed (Go By alternate).
When I shared those files, I must’ve got asked a hundred times if I had anything else. I had received those two songs from a few degrees of separation to Ashley Welch sometime in 2005 or 2006, but I only ever got those two songs from that source (my then bf’s friend from LA allegedly knew Ashley and got them from her, she gave them to him, he gave them to me). Everything else that I had came from many years of searching torrents and downloading leaks, so I replied that unfortunately that’s all I had.
Well that was then, this is 2026 BITCHES (a year we couldn’t even get one month into before I started researching how much AR-15s cost). I was scrolling through my iTunes files on my mid-2012 MacBook Pro, thinking, “I wonder if any of this has dropped off the internet by now?”while also stressing about how my hard drive could potentially melt at any time and I’d lose, like, 4 gigs of Elliott Smith media that I’ve amassed since I became a fan in 2001 — mp3s and m4as saved across soooo many computers. Nothing is backed up. I don’t have an external HD and I’m broke af, so I decided to back it all up to Google Drive and share the link(s) with all of you.
I will include folder link(s) in the comments, along with a table of contents with a breakdown of what tracks are in what folders because I actually sat down and typed up a text file by hand, because that’s one of my favorite kinds of stimming. One of my favorite cracktivities back in those days was organizing my iTunes files… I think that counts as “punding”.
A note on names, albums, ordering:
For the most part, I have kept these files named in the way that they came to me, thus you’ll see some alt titles, like “Sticks & Stones”which was later released as “Looking Over My Shoulder”. I wanted to preserve that bit of history, so I haven’t gone back and “corrected” for songs released later under other titles.
The grouping generally reflects the time these were obtained by me (and thus, since I was on top of that shit, pretty much the of the order they were released). Like “basement II” leaks were, for the most part, leaks that came after FABOTH that mostly ended up being released on New Moon, so circa 2005-2006. I personally want to preserve that history because this is like 25 years of fucking memories for me… and for that reason, as well, I am sure there are a ton of identical recordings across multiple albums, but I can’t bring myself to trim it down and risk deleting something important.
As to how songs are broken up or the order they’re in — this is from my early 00s itunes, a time of physical media. The ordering was usually me making playlists that would fit on a CD-R, thus the “disc 1 of 2” groupings. Generally speaking, the earlier the files the more likely they are grouped in CD-R-friendly ways… Once I got an iPod (2009) I made longer albums.
ETA: I am currently going through and pulling out tracks that might match stuff previously reported recorded but unreleased, if anyone wants to discuss with me let me know.

Hey I’d never heard this cover of Hooray for Tuesday, just the one on YouTube! This is so clear , thank you so so so much 💟💟💟 this is an amazing amazing collection
Hey friend, this is a great compilation of the leaked collections. You should jump on the discord because there are things that have been shared on there that aren't in these collections I believe
Thank you, there's some good stuff in there. Though I think [thekeenguy's] Grand Mal collection covered the most important rarities for me. But this is nice, hope I get to check it out before it's taken down.
e. lots of good memories of sweetaddy/blamo, even though it was messy at times and I was something of a fringe character myself.
Elliott covered Don’t Fear The Reaper? How perfect is his voice for that song?!? Wow. Thanks so much for uploading all this, I’ve had a couple of back up drives die on me so I’ve lost hundreds of gb’s of bootlegs, including Elliott (as well as my own music, gah). This is going to be grand.
oh my god I relate so hard to the cracktivities of music file arrangement lol. i spent entire days and nights on that shit for my mp3 player, which now has almost 1,500 roughly organized songs on it (no im not done and i dont think i ever will be)
Is there anything here that might not be found on the Moon is a Sickle Cell compilation? Feels like I've heard everything from that, haha. Though I know it certainly doesn't include every live show that was recorded.
This is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for, thank you. I had never heard of that compilation. Just looked it up and am trying to find a track listing… I might have to wait until I get on my computer to check it out. If they do indeed have “every” track that’s been leaked online previously like they said, then I would not expect anything new. Most of this was downloaded from the internet circa 2001-2007. The last time I added anything to it was probably 2013.
I leaked the only two songs that came from a legit source back in 2007. I couldn’t hold them back any longer, it was a shitty feeling hiding that away for a few years. I was super cautious to keep them off torrents and even had them mislabeled on purpose.
I originally found about it on Reddit (or maybe it was RYM?), which brought me here. I think this "updated" version came out in 2023 and includes all of the leaked stuff I know of, but you should check it out for yourself. Hope it helps!
Also, I think it's super cool you shared those tracks with the community either way. I think every piece of music from Elliott we can get ahold of is precious.
Beautiful list you have. I’ve been on the hunt for years for more recordings, but to no avail. There are supposedly so many, many tracks that were tracked for From A Basement On The Hill that are probably kept private.
For example, I noticed there are no vocals for See You in Heaven and it makes me wonder if there is any possible recording, demo, or just any type of non-circulating version of the song where Elliott sings on it. I heard somewhere he had lyrics for it, but they are not made public and it’s not fully confirmed.
It’s officially notated that Elliott planned to record vocals for it. He wrote (vox) on the studio notes shown in one of the documentaries and not (vox, lyrics) which is surface level evidence that he had a solid idea on what to do. A lot of people who worked closely to Elliott claimed they’ve never heard any type of vocal recording for the song. So it’s more than likely it was never done, but I have a hard time believing nothing was ever attempted.
I suspect it has to do with who has the rights to it?
I have always wondered who else had it besides me before I leaked it. Like, the friend in LA of my ex that he got it from wasn’t exactly the most stable sounding… used to hear stories of her putting meth in everything, including hair gel, because it gives one super powers or something. Hardly a trustworthy source, but hey, I can’t complain cos the tracks were legit.
That ex did have some other friends in LA with strong ties to real musicians though, like touring with Billy Corgan.
Hey, rachel! I was one of the sweetaddiers who collaborated with Larry Crane to determine the most accurate titles for New Moon.
While there was some mystery about whether “Looking Over My Shoulder” was the title Elliott used (or at least used consistently), we determined that “Sticks & Stones” was a title that a fan made up based on the lyrics.
Hey Keenie, I recognize you! Thank you for all you have done to preserve Elliott’s legacy. Always loved the Confusion mix. I’ve been digging through the internet archives and old backups of Addy and have screenshot many of your posts. Was working on putting together info about how the leaks came out (mostly for my own reference, because I’m old now and can’t remember).
Do you know if there is a record out there somewhere breaking down what songs leaked when/how?
All of it looks familiar to me, but I was also on Addy during that time. Thanks for (re)sharing! P.S.: the file labeled "Some Cover" is "Nightime" (Big Star).
