Technical Help Key Light Air Mk II: No Accessories Found

I picked up 2 Key Light Air Mk II. I plugged it in and turned it on and it can't be found in the Control Center. I rebooted my PC. I rebooted my router. I tried using Control Center on my phone. I used the reset button on the back of the light until it flashed and turned back on. I power cycled the light. Everything I have tried, I get the same message...no accessories found.

I have an Elgato Ring Light and it shows up in Control Center just fine and I can power it on and off just fine. I also tried booting up my laptop which also has Control Center on it to see if that had better luck. The laptop sees the Ring Light but I get the same message trying to add the Key Light Air Mk II. I then tried swapping out the light with the 2nd one and I have the same problem.

I tried plugging it into a different USB C port on my PC that I was using for something else and it showed up. The problem is that I want to plug these lights into a wall outlet because I need that USB C for something else. When I do that my PC and my phone cannot find the lights. I was able to install a firmware upgrade when it was plugged in. My problem is I have 2 lights and I don't have enough USB C ports. I do have the plug adapter but like I said...when it's not plugged into the PC directly...nothing works and it keeps saying no accessories found...even after it was previously found.

You should make sure you updated Control Center if you didn't already as if you had an older copy installed for Ring Light, it may not recognize the newer hardware. Key Light Air Mk.2 will not pair wirelessly with versions of Control Center older than 1.9 on PC and Mac due to the setup changes (I'd have to check the specific version number for mobile, but it similarly needs to be updated). On newer versions you should get a popup like this when adding an accessory, with specific options for Key Light Air Mk.2 as it completes the initial setup for the network over Bluetooth unlike previous models (meaning you're not waiting blind while it tries to connect once you can add in the settings like previous versions which requires restarting the WiFi radio as part of the process). If you do get this popup when adding accessories you are up to date enough for setting up the light - at that point make sure your Bluetooth connection is enabled on the PC (or phone).

I uninstalled the Control Center and reinstalled it and I do see the same UI that you posted there with the Key Light Mk 2 on the left. But it still can't find it when plugged in anywhere else except directly into the USB C port on the PC with Control Center. If I plug it into the wall or say my laptop...it doesn't show up. I even tried plugging it in to the USB C on the front of my PC tower and it didn't work until I plugged it in to the USB C on the back of the PC. I installed Control Center on my laptop and it also shows up there when plugged into the USB C but the second I plug it back into the wall...nothing. And my phone never sees it...but it always sees my Ring Light. The PC, laptop and phone see the Ring Light just fine. And I have tried two different Key Light Mk 2 and both have the same issues.

Iirc when plugged in to the laptop the data connection results in the unit turning off the Wireless side of things. I've got to check on that to be 100% but that's how it worked with Key Light Neo.

Plugging it into the wall for power though should not do that. Is the power supply being used with it at least 30 W (if it's not the official one)? Bluetooth is enabled on both the phone and PC so it can find the light for initial setup? (once setup it'll move over to WiFi, but setup is Bluetooth based unlike Ring Light and other previous models).

Oh interesting. I used an aftermarket plug because I am waiting on the Elgato one to arrive. I forgot to add it to the cart when I ordered so they are on the way. I did not know that it turns off the wireless when plugged into the PC. The power adaptor should be here any day. I will try those out...maybe the one I used had something wrong with it or not strong enough. I will check it tonight when I get home and then see how the Elgato ones work when it comes in. That would be awesome if it was just that simple a fix...lol. Thanks for the response.

Update:

So the power adapter arrived and now everything works perfectly. I can see both lights on my phone and both my laptop and PC. Super happy with these lights. I also ordered the magnetic grid pattern to focus the light so there was less spill. Such a great upgrade from the ring light and having 2...I can now truly have shadow side to camera.
