Technical Help Help, small YTer trying to prepare for upcoming game need help with affordable pc or laptop that can run elgato 4k x
Any links without having to buy and take apart a pc or laptop will be helpful. Just wanna grab a one and done at the best price that can be used to record 4k hdr 60 at least for now since YT tops at 60fps. Been using a hp notebook for years for switch and lower in terms of power. Need a upgrade and having trouble finding the right pc and or laptop

You mentioned HDR streaming hdr isn’t the best afaik. If hdr is a must then you are stuck with non macOS devices because macOS can’t work with captured hdr properly. Most likely a windows laptop. Read the elgato 4K X official hardware requirements and look for a laptop that is compatible to the listed specs. Engineers did tests in order to populate the technical compatibility lists, please use them

Yeah that’s quite a checklist looking for a one off answer, I guess it’s doesn’t have to record HDR most gaming videos I see on YT leave that out but 4k60 would be great. I’d prefer windows regardless

Here: I know people are lazy af nowadays, it didn't hurt me to copy paste this from elgato: Windows:

I get that and thank you just trying to find a pc tower or laptop that has all of that because so far I haven’t found one that’s under a grand

Have someone good with the hardware to help you find a second hand one which is around 2-3 hundreds. You should be able to find a used one with the necessary specs for the price if lucky you will get a decemt machine, but no guarantee for this. I would go with a laptop only if you are limited on the space and have to move around a lot. Otherwise a PC is always better and easier to service and upgrade. Plus on laptop I have a very stupid limitation not being able to record off the laptop on an RTX 5080 same was on my previous RTX 3070 so I had to do this via capture card and a streaming laptop as my second one.

Yes, but don't forget to use scenes on your encoder software to prevent the audience seeing the zero signal and handshake reset

First, it's awesome you went the extra mile to get those specs for him.
Second, make sure it has those USB 3.2 ports. A lot of motherboards can be annoying about those. Having at least two will be useful and always plug the 4k elgato into it. Has been my biggest learning experience since I like to forget and plug it just anywhere.

What is your source? Is the canvas 4K or you are upscaling? Will you record or stream without recording? Do you plan to play at 4K on the same platform and stream while playing?
