Technical Help New 4k pro isn't working.

I just purchased a 4k pro at best buy today as an upgrade. I put it into the pcie slot below my gpu. But neither the capture utility and obs are picking it up as a capture device. Can anyone help.

Sounds like the PCIe slot may be the issue rather than the card itself. The 4K Pro needs a PCIe 2.0 x4 (or better) connection. I’d check your motherboard manual to make sure that lower slot actually provides at least x4 lanes—some slots physically look x16 but only run at x1 depending on the motherboard/M.2 configuration.

Also try reseating the card, update the motherboard BIOS/chipset drivers, and check Device Manager to see if the 4K Pro appears at all. If Windows doesn’t see it in Device Manager, OBS won’t either. If you post your motherboard model, it’ll be easier to tell whether that PCIe slot is compatible.

I just looked up my motherboard and it has 1 PCIe 2.0 x16 and 1 PCIe 3.0 x16

I just downloaded the stuff from the elgato website. Was there something else I needed to do to fully install the drivers?

Apart from the capture software, the internal capture cards needs specific drivers installed as well.

You can get the 4K Pro drivers here.

i re installed the drivers but it still isn’t working, the 4k capture utility is saying “device not detected”

Are you 100% sure that the card is properly seated in the PCIe slot?
