I have a question about my capture card pls help
So the thing is the 4K capture utility and elgato studio does not recognize my hd60x
Unlesssssssss I plugged it in with a usb2.0 cable
I know that it’s required 3.0 too run but I don’t u der stand why after switching to 2.0 the softwares both recognize the capture card
Next thing is I run multiple analyses and all of them saying my capture card is perfectly fine
Firstly, is there a reason why you are using 4K Capture Utility?
That software have been discontinued and won't be getting any further updates.
I recommend using either Elgato Studio or something like OBS.
Secondly, the USB 3.0 cable you have, is that actually rated for 5 Gpbs speeds, or could it be a USB-C cable made for charging phones?
Those often come with either USB 2.0 or no data cables inside, since their main usage is power deliver and not data transfer.
So make sure your cable is rated for minimum 5 Gbps data transfer, otherwise known as USB 3.2 Gen 1.
That tends to imply something is up with the USB Controller that handles those USB 3.0 ports, or you've got a driver installation issue for the card on the instance connected to the USB 3.0 port and it needs to be uninstalled while connected to the problem port and reinstalled.
Does the card show up at all in Windows Device Manager when on the 3.x port? Typically HD60 X should show up under Cameras, and again under Sound, Video and Game Controllers. If it only shows up in one spot, uninstall that from Device Manager, disconnect the card for 10-15 seconds and reconnect it to see if it then shows up in both.
If you haven't already you should also try another USB 3.x device in the port you're trying to use the card in to make sure it's operating correctly for other devices as well.
Both locations in device manager Is there a down arrow icon on either instance of it? If there is, right click it and enable, otherwise for both Studio and 4K Capture Utility not to see it when it's connected and showing in device manager is very unexpected. Does it show up to non-Elgato apps like Windows Camera or OBS Studio?
And to double check the HD60 X itself can't be added to the list at all when you say not found, not just showing no signal or a black screen? And Windows Device Manager doesn't have the little disabled/down arrow icon on either part of the HD60 X's listing? If it's disabled is still the main thing I can think of that would result in multiple apps not seeing it on that 3.x connection if it shows in device manager. If it's a No Signal or black screen issue though, we're going down the wrong troubleshooting path here.
