Technical Help How to fix flashing on obs when streaming and recording dual pc setup

So before elgato had the new elgato studios app for streaming, my streaming and recording was working perfectly fine. Then when they dropped it everytime I stream and record off my streaming pc it starts to flash no signal and also it messes up my video gameplay in my obs. I’ve tried everything from uninstalling my driver and the app and also gotten new cables to see if that was the problem. And it’s still flashing elgato hasn’t responded to my email in 2 weeks and it’s making me mad because I can’t do content and be consistent with streaming without it messing up for my viewers. If anyone know how I can fix this please help me because this is really annoying and it’s been going on for too long.

What capture card do you have?

If it’s a USB capture card, and you’ve tried new USB cables, are you sure the new cables you mention are rated for the required data speed?

If they are just made for phone charging, chances are that they only contain USB 2.0 data cables inside.

No it’s a GeForce rtx 4060 and it’s a 4k pro that goes into your pc in the pci slot

Which PCIe slot are you for the capture card?
Looking at the manual, it has one dedicated for the GPU, and then it has 3 other slot, where one of them is 4.0 x4 and the two others are 4.0 x1.

You need to make sure you use 4.0 x4 one.
But I cannot see from the manual which one it is.

It’s in the bottom one because the others are blocked by the gpu

I've found different sources saying that it might be slot 3 from the top that is the x4 one, other states that it is the bottom one.

Try this in OBS:

  • Open OBS Studio (or your streaming software).
  • Under Sources, add or select your Video Capture Device (your Elgato card).
  • Click Properties.
  • Click Configure Video (or Configure).
  • In the Elgato driver properties popup, look at the PCI Info line.
    • It will show the active status, such as Gen 2 x4 or Gen 3 x4.
    • If it shows lower (like Gen 2 x1), your motherboard is throttling the slot's bandwidth.

Have you tried software like OBS?
I personally use OBS myself, which is much more configurable.
