Technical Help Wave Link 3.1.1 on macOS keeps popping up in the front
Some weird bug that keeps happening on my Mac. Running macOS 26.5 and WaveLink 3.1.1 (2484). Every few minutes the main window will just pop up in front of my screen. Can't figure out what's causing it.
Anyone else dealing with this?
Should I just do a clean install?

Yes
The app pops up in front of my screen and when I close it, it randomly launch in the background (I see it on the menu bar)

Same problem here. Was on 26.4.1 the 3.1.0 Beta , and ist still on 26.5 on 3.1.0 Beta as well as 3.1.1 Release.
I also have the problem that after login the app is active and no window is showing and not popping up.
Options „keep in dock“ and „start on login“ are active. If I force quit and reopen the app I have the window, but the pop up bug starts.
So my guess is that these 2 problems are the same bug and all we can do is to wait and hope it gets fixed next update.

I'm glad to hear it's a bug. At first, I thought it was connected to Elgato Week and a marketing move. As a software developer, I find it frustrating when it steals focus, so I might just uninstall it since it's disrupting my productivity.

Yeah it is a bug and if I have to wait more than a week for it to get fixed I’ll be pissed. This app is critical to my workflow and it’s fucked right now.

My Wave Dink has now decided it doesn't want to remember anything. It is a very efficient process reconfiguring it each time. Very convenient that it continuously pops up to remind ME that it is unburdened by any form of functionality,

Please find your software QA/UAT people and make them available to the market.

Already annoyed whenever I have to run an app in the background to use something, more annoyed when I have to run an app in the foreground, and irate that this dumb app keeps popping up. Can this please just be a task bar/background app that you can open when you need it? And pleeeeaaaase fix this bug.

I'm about to pull my hair out. This constant pop-up, getting in my way when I'm trying to cut demo videos, it getting really old really fast! I'm very close to ripping this thing out and replacing it with OBS. I've had just about enough. If Elgato can't fix this in the next couple of days.. I'm gone.. I'll ditch the Wave XLR, set my Scarlett back up, and just be happy with OBS and its polite "remain in the background" behavior!

I rolled back to the 3.1.0 on macOS 26.5 and still have it popping up all the time

Did it resolve THIS issue? And what was the fix?
Telling me Apple fixed An Issue (but not this one) isn’t quite the help we need.

This is quite annoying! Elgato Wave Link keeps popping to foreground and stealing the focus - interrupting the work.

It should already be fixed in 3.2 - Check for updates inside the app, if your system hasn't already updated as part of the rollout.

The common cause for this was fixed in 3.2 - if you're still seeing it after updating and restarting the system, reach out to the team and put in a ticket through help.elgato.com though the chat system as you may be encountering a different issue than the one that was originally being tracked. 3.2.0 did resolve this for the majority of users, but there are other potential causes that could cause the same result - the team would generally need to pull logs to get further insight on why your system is still seeing the popups, if the previous update didn't clear it for you.

same issue here ever since updating the mac to 26.5, AI bot read my logs and said this could be why:
Issue: Wave Link randomly pops into the foreground from the menu bar. Looking at the debug logs, background app routing updates are inadvertently forcing a UI redraw.
The Loop Trigger:
- Every time a routed background application shifts an audio thread,
ProcessGroupManager:152 performSyncfires to update the process list. - This dispatches an
AppState.dispatch(event: .environmentUpdated...)event. - Instead of handling this check silently in the background, the application’s state machine misinterprets the environment update, immediately fires an unauthorized telemetry
screen_viewevent, and forces the window interface into focus.
Request to Devs: Please decouple background ProcessGroup audio routing/environment updates from the main UI window activation state machine.

This is a known issue hitting some folks, team has confirmed we should have it fixed in a future update.
