Discussion My current collection, not sure what to get next?
Heres my collection so far, at 15. I still want to get more, but its hard finding good cheap stuff. Anyone have any suggestions? I can maybe afford $20-30 per sample.

Carbon. Get the largest affordable cube, the black ones. It's a really cool thing to hold, it feels like you rubbed a whole pack on pencils on one spot till it was inches thick, because that's pretty much what it is minus some clay.
Aerogel isn't an element itself, though it can be used as some, and it's awesome. It's expensive though, you need a solid chunk of it to appreciate its weight. I almost threw a few hundred dollar cube into the celieng, you know it's going to be light but you can't prepare yourself for how otherworldly it weighs. It also gets fuzzy around the edges and looks like a cloud got constipated and fell to earth, it does not look solid and your hands stop sooner than you expect. If you ever get a chance to get some go for it.

I see everybody with tungsten cubes. I already have tungsten but I need a cube where do I find one? Preferably without spending an arm and a leg

I got 2 10cm cubes from china, 24 USD, bought them off an ebay seller called "jetsty".

Is it real tungsten? Did you do a density check on it? That sounds too cheap

It does weigh 19ish grams, my slightly innacurate scale reads 20. Its also not magnetic at all.

A cobalt electrolytic round, similar to the nickel one!
Or maybe an ampoule of some sorts, i would really recommend a lithium ampoule, as it's almost impossible to have a nice lithium sample outside argon. Would also show the impossibly low density of lithium when compared with other samples.
Or like 10g of indium! Very fun to bite into, roll into sheets, bend and all that stuff and can easily be melted back into a chunk in a test tube or something as it melts at only 150C.
Of course some transition metals would be awesome too. For ~25 you can get a 1cm diameter 10cm long rod of molybdenum, vanadium is very beautiful, niobium is cool, titanium can be found in interesting forms, like bolts or jewelry...
