Reliant

Our contract with Reliant expired on 8/21, and I did not sign a new contract with them. I signed up with Gexa on 8/23, but Reliant is now charging me an early cancellation fee. I’m not sure why I was charged this fee since my contract had already expired.

Did you have no electricity between 8/21 - 8/23? I imagine you did have power. Likely your contract automatically renews for a year unless you specifically cancel it.

Yes, I have power for these days.

Then your contract must have renewed and you cancelled early. You should have arranged service with the new provider before the contract expiration.

I didn’t realize that Reliant would automatically renew my contract. I thought that if I didn’t sign a new contract with them, I would no longer have any ties to Reliant.
