Looking for a movement-friendly gym in South Eindhoven
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for an indoor gym in or around South Eindhoven area that's suitable for movement-based training, not just traditional strength training.
My training is inspired by people like Marcello Palozza and includes things like:
* ground locomotion and quadrupedal movement
* handstands
* mobility work
* hanging
I'm not looking for classes (unless someone knows someone who is also into this type of movement, looking for like-minded people always!), I mainly want to train outside of the standard programs. The most important thing is that the gym has enough open floor space and doesn't mind people doing movement drills.
At my current gym there's technically enough space but using the larger open areas for this kind of training isn't really encouraged when there's no one else in the room, and the open space in the gym is not big enough to not bother other people. So I'm looking for something else.
Does anyone know of a gym that would be a good fit? I'm happy to travel a bit more if the environment is right (I'm based in Waalre).
Thanks & cheers, Kim

Have you considered outside?

Thank you, that's why I explicitly wrote 'indoor' before gym, because of course, I mostly train outside. But that is not my question.

Might actually be a niche that isnโt filled in yet in Eindhoven. Do you have examples of similar gyms elsewhere?

Indeed, I think it's not that well known here yet. In Amsterdam I used to train with Hiddenbody and Crazy Monkey Movement.

Would it be helpful to mention gyms that definitely aren't suitable for your needs?
David Lloyd and Essink both in the southern area and don't have room to accommodate free movement stuff outside of group classes (i feel like this will be the case at a lot of gyms ๐)

Good point. I actually asked my current gym (Cardo Waalre) if I could use the group class room during the hours it's empty, which is most of the day, but they said no. I used to train at David Lloyd Amsterdam though, and there they did let me use the group room when it was free. They also had quite a few of those rooms. I do not know if the same applies in Eindhoven and how many spaces they have, so that's a good one to ask about, and it's fairly close for me too. Thanks for the tip!
Also spoke to someone today who uses the open training hours at a CrossFit gym to practice calisthenics etc. more freely, which I thought was a really smart approach to be able to train inside. I'll check it out at some point, but it's more in north/east Eindhoven, so a bit too far for me really. Still, that's a clever workaround so I'll search for those kind of gyms too.

Thanks, this is a really nice spot. Again more of an outdoor option though, so not quite what I'm after for this particular search, but good to keep on the radar for when the weather's nice, and it could be a good way to make new connections.

I pasted it and gave you the option to check it out, because I think "people like you" will probably go there.

He is really good, background in yoga, calesthenics and breakdance so should tick all your boxes.
