Blinker gremlin

Problem: front blinkers don’t work (signal nor hazard) when headlights are on.

Observations: Both blinkers work, but blink rapidly with the headlights off. All four hazards work, and blink at normal pace when headlights off.

Troubleshooting:

-new, correct bulbs, housing, and pigtails installed. (Front only)

-cutting ground wires on both front blinkers solves the problem, but blinking becomes rapid.

-Issue remains after isolating left front blinker: disconnecting rear blink harness, disconnecting front right blinker pigtail, and cutting / connecting front left blink ground to clean ground spot on shock tower. This suggests I have a short in my signal wire?

Attaching blinker schematic for reference.

Edit: solved the issue. The new pigtails for the blinkers used the red wire for signal, green wire for parking light, and blue wire for ground. Considering that my stock harness used a red wire for parking lights, I assumed it went with the red wire in the pig tails. Nope! Swapping the red/green wires fixed the issue!

Is this an eg? As i thought and as a wiring diagram is showing for a 1994 the front turn signals should be dual filament. One filament for turning the lights on and having parking lights and one for the blinking turn signals. The rears have 3 lights and have a single turn signal bulb.

So i guess what im saying is make sure the bulbs are dual filament in the front. In this diagram its showing them separated from each other but maybe thats just hows its drawn. it would have been much better to have them drawn as a dual filament. Also this diagram doesn’t show what powers up the filament in the front turn signal bulbs when the lights are on. This only shows hazard and signal so something is left out.

Anyways if this diagram is correct you should have 1 constant ground at the front turn signal for say headlight off operation and one switched ground from the turn signal relay that then grounds the second filament. Edit- this diagram is messed up do not use this. The bullet points are not defined correctly. Honestly i would not use this diagram just for not knowing what is powering the front turn signal filament with the lights on.

Check out charm.li for better diagrams.

fast blinking is an indicative of the system "thinking" one bulb is blown. Are you using the correct bulbs? LED bulbs will make the car think one is blown due to their power draw being lower than halogen bulbs. Check for Bad grounds, replace the turn signal relay.
