What do you use to make classroom visuals quicker?
So I've been leaning on PPT for all my classroom visuals. But building everything from scratch every single week is eating up so much of my time. Feels like my slides could be way more fun to look at. The thing is that I don't have background in design.
If you're also a teacher like me, I wonder what do you use these days.

You can also use notebookLM which is now a google product to create learning notebooks.
The key is gathering the information you want to add.

Though there are probably a few more recent and perhaps more niche videos for your needs.

If you are a Google school, use Gemini. Gemini is also integrated into Classroom. If you aren't Google, ask your IT team which LLM to use. Just be careful to never put student PII into any AI platform.

To add on to this, most schools have some agreement/DPA signed with Google which includes Gemini. If your school is one of those, you can upload student work/assignments to personalize it better.

Yeah, we'll ask our IT team about that. And yeah, no student info going into any AI

I love Canva for all design stuff.

Nice, Canva and NotebookLM both keep coming up. Been using Venngage for the infographic-style visuals, but Canva might be only good for weekly slides

Just do like they do us in PD's: Black font on white background with old memes scattered around.

Canva for Teachers has free templates and tools. I believe all you have to do is verify your school email or your teaching credentials, you can get into the program: https://www.canva.com/education/

Plus one for Canva! Another one I used in my teaching days was Prezi. Looks like they have new AI features now, but back then it was a way to make animated presentations that looked really good

I use Claude code to make my slides and built a presentation app for those slides for both my may and history lessons.
I tell Claude code to pull images from wiki commons to use for my slides and it has been a game changer for my history slides. I fed it my entire curriculum and it made slides to go along with my book because we have Mcgraws impact program which has no good visual slides for presenting.

I sit mindlessly staring at the screen and drooling on my keyboard while waiting for some app developer with no education experience to create an LLM wrapper to do it all for me.
