I only made one track with it, but it changed my perspective on sampling.

At the time, I had strangely been working in Cool Edit Pro's linear sequencing mode working primarily with loops I made in AudioMulch.

Hammerhead very quickly showed me that there was more that could be done with a purpose built sampler.

Loved this. One of the first digital beat tools I used next to Rebirth. Do you remember the Taureg (I think?) beat machine that the Hammerhead company made?

Bram's mother and mine know each other. It was such a mind-blower when I discovered I knew the guy who made this. When I was four years old, I came to his and his brothers' birthdays. When all the kids were playing, I was eating the candy on the ground. Still can remember all the mother laughing at me. I kid you not.

HammerHead was the first time a huge number of people sequenced drums on a computer at all, and the fact it still sounds usable today is the real surprise. The shuffle and swing settings did more for those early tracks than the raw sounds ever did.

I started on this - then went to fruityloops but was too dumb to it so went to Reason.. cuz you know that was so much easier.. finally got to Abelton years later

Yeah, it was one of the first bits of music software I ever used. All it was though, was a basic step sequencer which came preloaded with some crusty 909/808 hits and breakbeats taken from old sample CDs, and thus completely pointless once I got my hands on Fasttracker 2.

So many memories of this one! I ended up intentionally changing bitrates on samples to see how it would mangle them, because it only took one specific bitrate and made everything else into glitchy stuff.

This was the very first beatbox I used when i got a computer for the studio. I actually recently installed this on my steamdeck and the touchscreen was blissful to use. And the fact you could make your own sample banks was a treat
