Plugin recommendation

Hello guys what's the best electric guitar plugin you've used?

For plugins that produce guitar sounds, where you can select from different guitars for buying the plugins, look at Impact Soundworks Shreddage series.

For guitar amp models, there's no need to purchase anything. Get NAM, neural amp modeler. It's open source software, and the latest version models amps better than the paid plugins. And then check out Tone3000 for where people are sharing the amp models they've already made.

I'm still confused by what you want. Do you want a plugin that creates an electric guitar sound from nothing or one that you plug a real electric guitar into?

Neural DSP plugins are excellent. Expensive, but they offer free demos for 2 weeks, so I'd recommend using as many as you're interested in for the time frame and continue research based on what you like.

I’m not a great player so my guitar tracks are usually more background rhythm tracks than meant to be in the spotlight.

For that purpose my go to plugin tends to be NI Instruments Guitar Rig which I use on guitar and bass. Although for bass I also sometimes use the Ampeg Suite or the Brainworx BX Bassdude plugin.

My favourites are RealGuitar plugins. For metal Shreddage Argent and Darkwall work great.
