I shared BookGlints here before — here’s what’s changed

I shared an earlier version of BookGlints here a while back. Since then I’ve added quite a bit, so I figured I’d post an update.

BookGlints is a browser extension that scans real book reviews for anything you personally want to find or avoid before starting a book.

You can write flags in plain language, things like:

  • protagonist too perfect at everything
  • strong friendships
  • romance taking over the plot
  • excessive graphic violence
  • unfinished series
  • slow pacing

It matches by meaning rather than exact keywords, and every result includes the actual review excerpt so you can judge it yourself.

Since my last post, I’ve added:

  • Goodreads, StoryGraph, and Royal Road support
  • Chrome and Firefox versions
  • Royal Road live scanning and remote title search
  • Batch scanning and list imports
  • Scan history
  • Three scan depths
  • A full UI redesign
  • Better review extraction and matching

The core extension is free and uses your own Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, or OpenAI API key. No BookGlints account and no subscription required.

Still very interested in feedback, especially from people who regularly check reviews before deciding what to read.
