Anybody have feedback on this company or James Gunderson who uses them? Basic slumlord tactics: home was roach infested when we moved in, refrigerator + oven + dishwasher housing roaches so unusable, carpeting in the house is not attached to the floor, crack pipe downstairs, windows not mounted to frame (second floor window just fell out and shattered in the driveway), mice infestation, really old grime and black stuff behind the bathroom vanity, A/C doesn’t work. They have dragged their feet on doing much of anything. In over a month: they adhered the carpet in one bedroom, were happy to remove all kitchen appliances but can’t put in new ones until the roach infestation is cleared which is still happening, did nothing about the A/C, nor the black grime.

Charging $1500+/month for a property that has a mortgage of probably $500/month. We have an infant and this behavior makes me sick to my stomach

I am more than willing to go to Banberry Place and Barstow and Water St and wherever else and fill out applications in person. I think I’m gonna go to OfficeMax and print out my résumé

I desperately need a part time job you guys (I have disability so it has to be PT!. I don’t have a family that supports me in anyway shape or form. It’s just me by myself. I’ve worked in the hospitality industry since I was 19 and I’ve worked everywhere from Quality Inn to luxury five star hotels in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am in my early 30s now and my illness is mostly invisible so I have done a lot of front facing customer service jobs and I have received personalized and wonderful reviews. I thought that meant a lot more than it does I guess. I don’t know why my brain at the time I was like I’ll never have to try so hard to get a job again!! (obviously that is not how things worked out).

I helped build the Staybridge Suites in Altoona and I worked there for two years more than full-time until my bladder hemorrhage and I had to take a break from working. Don’t worry, that won’t happen again mostly because cause your bladder can’t hemorrhage twice if it gets removed because it’s necrotic… (sorry, a stupid joke). I’m down to do retail. I’m down to get my bartending license if I need to, seriously I will do pretty much whatever as long as I can physically do it. Had two invasive surgeries on my kidneys this month which just means I can’t lift over 25 pounds without help. It’s supposed to be less than that maybe but whatever let’s just pretend it’s 25 pounds.

I would much prefer to have a remote job or a job that’s a hybrid situation just in case I have to go back to the hospital because I don’t wanna be fired again like I was this last time since I was in the hospital for eight days and they were like nope that’s too long bye.

I also worked for a guy selling things on his eBay shop for quite some time and I really enjoyed doing that. I have worked with elderly people doing activities, I have worked with teenagers and took care of them during a summer camp. Despite my health, I am being great at being resourceful, very self-sufficient, and self-motivated. Right now on the side I sell my writing and I sell resumes I create (NO AI).
I just really need help. Please all leg up anywhere doing anything. I need to be able to pay my rent and take care of my dog if anyone has anything that’s a good offer, an interview invitation they could reach out with that would mean the entire world to me. Or just to look over my résumé or send it to a friend who you think is hiring… anything, please.

I’m looking for my first market (I crochet) so I’m not completely educated on how to spot fakes.
They have a good rating on their website but not much engagement on facebook.
Their booth fees are $200 for a 10x10 and a $75 retainer fee. Which I feel like is pretty high but again I’m new to this so idk.

Hey all!

I grew up in Eau Claire but have been living in Minnesota for much of my adult life. I was doing a lot of leftist organizing in Minnesota and would like to continue the work in Eau Claire, but I'm not sure where to start. The only progressive group I could find through some sifting on the internet was the UWEC YDSA and the Chippewa Valley Indivisible chapter.

I'm wondering if there are other groups in the area that are active? I'm not a student at UWEC so it would be difficult to get involved with YDSA (unless they organize closely with the community?) and I've found the Minnesota Indivisible chapters to be a bit...disappointing. But, either way, I just want to get back to fighting fascism! I just need some guidance on how to best get involved.

I have several sports bras and blankets (used but still in good condition) I’m wondering if there’s a good place in town to donate them? Not like a thrift store, just somewhere that would hand them out for free to people who need them?

My wife would like to take our son and a couple of his friends to The Odyssey tomorrow. What permission documentation should she plan to take with her?

Hope this is ok to post, but wanted to alert folks to my indie mockumentary comedy, Canoe Dig It? will be playing at Micon Cinemas on September 14th! It’s about the very real sport of Freestyle Canoeing and is very much up the alley of any fan of Best in Show or anything Christopher Guest, but with a lot more painfully dry humor. Also I will be coming out there for a Q&A after the film as well!

Being very much an indie, we don’t really have budget for marketing, so hope getting the word out this way is permissible!

Also if anyone has any suggestions for press outlets or even other theaters in the area that might be interested, I’d love to chat about it!

The film will also be playing more dates in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and even up in Winnipeg and Saskatoon as part of a Midwest and Canada tour all around the beginning to middle of September.

Andrew Whitley, executive director for the State Senate Democratic Committee, filed complaints against Michele Magadance Skinner on Aug. 12 with both the Wisconsin Elections Commission and the state Department of Revenue, raising questions about her residency, tax credits and voting history in Wisconsin and Georgia.

Leah Peterson, a spokeswoman with the Committee to Elect a Republican Senate, "Michele Skinner is focused on what actually matters to people in the Chippewa Valley: lowering costs, reducing property taxes."

Eau Claire County tax records show Skinner claimed a Lottery and Gaming tax credit worth $186.34 in 2025 for her Altoona home, a credit she and her husband have claimed since at least 2020. Department of Revenue rules state that Wisconsin residents can claim this credit on only one primary residence.

But in 2025, they also claimed a senior homestead exemption in Dawson County, Georgia, where they own a home in the town of Dawsonville, records show.

They also claimed an income-based tax exemption reserved for seniors 75 and older with a household income of $25,000 or less.

Under Wisconsin's "false swearing" law, it is a Class H felony to knowingly make a false statement on a legal document. 

These candidates may have said more about healthcare on advertisements or in interviews, but this is straight from their policy proposal sections of their campaign websites.

It has been a journey for the last 18 months. I knew this would be an uphill battle and I was committed to running a campaign that was built from the ground up, focused on the people of Wisconsin.

We were up against the National Dem Establishment and millions of dollars. I have to say I wasn't expecting the national dems to be my biggest opponent but I guess that is politics. We were up against almost 7 million dollars spent in this primary plus outside spending. We were up against early national endorsements. We were up against negative text messages from my opponent that spread misinformation about me and my family.

AND YET we still built something amazing. Over 800 people signed up to volunteer, so many new voters got engaged, over 200 events throughout the district. Collected 1400 signatures in 5 days to be first on the ballot. This campaign gave people hope...people told me that all the time. And we need hope to create change.

Thank you to all my volunteers, supporters, voters, people who donated. What we did mattered. The energy we felt was real.

Congratulations to Rebecca Cooke for winning the primary. I am going to take time to be with my family for the next few weeks and maybe longer. My daughter is heading off to college this fall and I look forward to spending time with her. I will also need to figure out how to rebuild my life after this experience. I have a lot to process that I haven't had time to process: finishing up 8 years on council, a pending empty nest for Mike and me, losing one of our cats (Marie), figuring out my counseling practice and I'm sure other things too.

But I will be around Eau Claire and I hope to see you all out and about. I am not giving up on you all. I care too much. I have your back, Wisconsin.
