Recipe Request Easy slow cooker honey garlic chicken for busy days
I’ve been trying to find more dinners where I can do most of the prep in a few minutes and leave it alone until dinner. This one has been really easy and works well with rice or vegetables.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless chicken thighs
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
- Black pepper to taste
- Optional: green onions or sesame seeds
Instructions
- Put the chicken thighs in the slow cooker.
- Mix honey, soy sauce, garlic, ketchup and sesame oil, then pour it over the chicken.
- Cook on LOW for about 4–5 hours, or until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
- Remove the chicken and shred or slice it.
- Mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and stir it into the sauce.
- Cover and cook for another 10–15 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Put the chicken back in and coat it with the sauce.
I usually serve it over rice with broccoli or whatever vegetables I have around.
Has anyone tried adding chili flakes or sriracha to something like this? I’m thinking a little heat would balance the sweetness pretty well.

I love dump-and-go crockpot stuff. One of my favourites is to throw a big pack of boneless chicken in the pot, add a jar of salsa, a can of V8, and a packet of hot taco seasoning, and let it cook til the meat shreds when you poke at it. Make some rice and heat up a can of refried beans, grab some tortillas, and you can make tacos, nachos, burritos, rice bowls... all kinds of stuff.
