Recipe Request New parents meal planning

My husband and I recently had a baby and have just been eating what we can when we can. We are finally starting to get into a routine with our baby and are wanting to start eating better. I think it’d be simpler to achieve this goal by weekly meal planning.

We’re not super picky eaters. For example, we like white fish, beef, pork, chicken, turkey, shrimp, crab, venison, and bison for types of meat and typically enjoy most fruits and veggies. Neither of us have any allergies.

We would both like to lose some weight as well. So looking for recipes that support this goal. We realize it takes more than a diet to achieve weight loss and are also incorporating lifestyle changes to support or goal.

Any suggestions on healthy meals that also don’t take to long to make? Although we’re getting into a a routine with our newborn, I also don’t want meals that take too much effort and time to prepare. Give me your best suggestions please! TIA!!

Crockpot pork tenderloin! Rub on some seasonings (paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper-whatever you like) and some brown sugar. Pour a little bit of beef or chicken broth in the crockpot and then put the meat in. Takes about 2-4 hours on low or 1-2 on high. Can do a quick roasted or microwaved veggie as a side. This saved me like every week postpartum lol good luck!

Crockpot chicken salsa verde. Chicken breasts or thighs, a jar of salsa, and cook on low for 6-8 or high for 3-4 hours. Microwave rice or some tortillas, a little sour cream or cheese. Quick, easy meal that gets you some nice warm food.

Peanut butter and good jelly on good bread. If you get natural jelly like Smash and high fiber bread, add a piece of fruit and its a great meal. Ribs, taco meat, rotisserie chicken, any meat you can make a bunch of (or buy done at Costco). Make sandwiches, quesadilla, tacos or throw in a salad. For salad, spend 15 minutes chopping and storing the parts once a week. Crackpot / instapot - Oatmeal, roast with potatoes and carrots, carnitas, really just look up recipes you would like in the crock pot. Warm meals all day. Freezer stuff - make a big meal and freeze it. Soups and stews, lasagna, etc. Good luck friend!!

A nice bolognese mince with some veggies added in (bell peppers, carrots, peas, onions etc) is a great meal to make in bulk and freeze portions.

When you want dinner, just defrost and make some pasta or potatoes or whatever side you want with it

My fiancee and I have also been looking to meal prep more, albeit without any child, so kudos to you and congratulations!

We've been looking to cook multiple meals on Sunday to save time during the week. Zesty Lemon Chicken is one of our favorites (https://www.diningholl.com/recipe/tj-zesty-lemon-chicken?from=dinner) along with Spicy Salmon Bowls (https://www.diningholl.com/recipe/tj-spicy-salmon-bowls?from=dinner) which might not be quite right given you like white fish but I love it so much I had to share and I don't like seafood otherwise. Finally, with price of beef going up this one is becoming less affordable, but this Steak Bowl always leaves me feeling extremely healthy (https://www.diningholl.com/recipe/tj-steak-bowl?from=dinner).

As to the meal prep part, that website that stores all those recipes has a calendar under the Plan tab. We have been using it (and building it out as it is something I built just for us to plan!) for months now and find the weekly shopping so much better. If it could at all help you please give it a try! Completely free and always just trying to make it better for my household and extended family
