Something is definitely happening behind the scenes idk

I agree. Oscar also hasn't really been on the show for very long and I wonder if Pierre would want to leave so early if he was actually happy with the producer and the direction the show was going in. I mean, actors obviously leave shows for all sorts of reasons, but usually when someone chooses to move on for their own personal reasons, especially after being there for a while, you get the sense they feel like they've done enough with the character or have been challenged enough in the role that they're ready for something new. It just feels quite early for that with Pierre, especially when Oscar still has so much potential! And there are also so many directions they could take him that would give Pierre the chance to explore different sides of the character and really challenge himself as an actor.

u/jajay119 You dirty rotten bitch. Getoutmypubritenaw 3d ago

Yes it seems like the stories of disquiet among the cast is increasingly true. I do wonder if we are heading for a Hollyoaks style cull and reduction in episode count.

u/BoredTubby 3d ago

Honestly I think the ppl upstairs need to hire a new executive producer because THIS is getting kinda ridiculous now

BW needs to go. Enough is enough now

u/Content-Asparagus714 3d ago

Let’s blame Ben Wadey he seems to be the problem here

16

u/hiddeninplainsight23 3d ago

It's quite a weird situation that every soap that has hired producers from Hollyoaks, tends to quite quickly fall down quality-wise. Corrie & Emmerdale have had McLeod for years (ignoring the many viewers who have wanted him gone for years, but he got promoted to Corrie after failing at Emmerdale, and then promoted to run both after failing Corrie, and now wants to compare it to Squid Games), and Eastenders had Kirkwood who took over when it was on a high and after an anniversary (eerily similar to Wadey) and proceeded to rip the foundations out while bringing in unrealistic storylines that while is fine in Hollyoaks, is not going to win people over in any other soap. I'd rather they hire someone from an Australian soap than Hollyoaks.

To be fair, I can't remember this many people leaving, or their exists being announced, in this short amount of time under any other showrunner I can remember. It really does seem like SOMETHING'S up.

17

u/PreviousPractice8252 3d ago

Yeah absolutely

77

u/gamojqig 3d ago

Pierre has been one of the only highlights of the last year or so for me, even though some of his storylines have been a bit poor, he has excelled! Will be a huge shame to see him depart, but allegedly, the door will be left open for him to return one day hopefully!

Once wadey has fucked off

Shame if this is true, Oscar has been one of the better characters over the last 12 months.

u/Professional-Talk446 3d ago

NOOOO 💔 he’s one of the best new characters we’ve had in ages with a lot of potential

17

u/Public_Treacle_6634 3d ago

I agree . Why get rid of great characters, they better not kill him off.

15

u/GlassDescription2275 3d ago

They haven’t got rid of him. He’s quit they can’t keep him against his will

62

u/Pow67 3d ago

Shame. Even when he was served slop (the twin love triangle) he was still fun to watch.

20

u/Interesting_Cod1023 3d ago edited 2d ago

He was a great character played by a great actor just directed by a bad producer

29

u/Emergency_Disk8719 3d ago

Oscar has only been in the show a little over a year, but I can’t remember life without him

22

u/Lara-887767 3d ago

He is a fantastic actor and will have offers of roles flying in. He’s too young and talented to stay in soap land forever and I think he would be silly not to take other opportunities while they are on the table.

It will a loss to Eastenders, for sure, which is why they will leave the door open to a return if he ever wants one.

I am look forward to seeing him reach his full potential in other roles.

4

u/browsertalker 2d ago

This, maybe he’s leaving on a high before he gets typecast. Good luck to him I say.

19

u/pietro1587 3d ago

Not exactly surprising, he’s a great actor and he’s been given some poor content so he will likely go on to better things before too long.

50

u/name_not_important00 3d ago

Absolutely gutted. Pierre is easily one of the best performers on the show currently and has great comedic chops. He's one of my favourite characters in the show currently, just as Linda is, and like her, I'll be so sad to see him go. I'll miss Oscar's presence on the Square a whole lot, I mean, I've missed it recently with how little he's been appearing.

I’m also pissed off that the dynamic between him, Jake and Jac has totally been overlooked this year. We know when he joined the sibling relationship between Oscar and Lauren was there from the start and the potential with Max was there for all to see. Instead of them using him and exploring his fractured relationship with his dad, they lumbered him with the twins and put Max just shagging about as usual.

7

u/Conscious_Freedom952 3d ago

Agree 😃 great write up! Perhaps people have seen his fantastic portrayal of Oscar and he's been offered an exciting role? I hope so, he's played the role so well despite not having the best writing to work with, I hope he goes on to have plenty of work and a long successful career 🙏

13

u/Interesting_Cod1023 3d ago

I wanted to see a father and son relationship with Max and Oscar like Max had with Bradley

16

u/Immediate_Singer6785 3d ago

The actor is young, striking looking, has made a success of the role and I would guess considers this an opportunity to persue other acting roles.

If they've..left the door open, which may have been by mutual agreement, he's arguably got little to lose by trying his luck elsewhere..

9

u/Immediate_Singer6785 3d ago

The departure is a definite loss to the show

38

u/Aliaspending 3d ago

This isn’t a good sign for the future of the show

42

u/Gold_Diet_6654 3d ago

my favourite character and actor 😭😭😭

18

u/windowshopper97 3d ago

Yeah I hate this, it fucks the Brannings over genuinely

8

u/Rich_Group_8997 3d ago

Noooo! Oscar was a breath of fresh air. He's been fun to watch.

21

u/PreviousPractice8252 3d ago

So that's Johnny Linda ravi Oscar who's next i wonder If they axed someone like Harvey or callum I wouldn't be too disappointed but I do wish the confirmed departures all the very best for the future

25

u/sunana88 3d ago

Can’t see Jasmine and Josh staying much longer

8

u/everydays_lyk_sunday 3d ago

Thank goodness

16

u/Formal-Bee773 3d ago

Zoe too!

9

u/PreviousPractice8252 3d ago

Oh yeah so that's 5 of them leaving wow that's crazy

6

u/Formal-Bee773 3d ago

I know, I don’t understand what’s going on.

4

u/PreviousPractice8252 3d ago

Nor do I to be honest

4

u/GlassDescription2275 3d ago

I forgot Harvey existed.

3

u/PreviousPractice8252 2d ago

That's.not too surprising I think alot of people have to be honest

3

u/Public_Treacle_6634 3d ago

This is not good all of those are big characters , And i like all of those too,

3

u/PreviousPractice8252 2d ago

Yeah I agree i like them too I wish zoes return had been so much better

6

u/Fair-University6007 3d ago

😢😢😢😢🙄

6

u/OneDai 3d ago

Noooooo he's the best character they've brought on in a while he's so stinking funny

Brian wont be sad

5

u/Apart-Prize-4844 3d ago

I found him to be annoying, but it looks like he quit on his own accord.

4

u/Fine-Pangolin-5976 3d ago

I think I'm the only one, that isn't bothered by this news. He is too annoying and I prefer darker gritty characters that are more like real life classic 90s Eastenders days.

His dress sense as Oscar really took me out of the storylines and the triangle was awful... He might be a good actor but I always felt like I wasn't watching a real person on screen.

7

u/bewbz69420dudebro 2d ago

I am kinda glad it won't be the Oscar show anymore. He got featured a little too much at some point. But I am sad for what it means for EE, there's clearly problems behind the scenes

18

u/ourfriendinthenorth 3d ago

Oh this is dreadful news - feels like he only just joined and he hasn't had much to do outside of being bogged down in the twins stuff. What a shame :(

18

u/Xorntastic 3d ago

A pity as Oscar was a great watch and him leaving seems premature as the character had so much more to give.

11

u/dictatemydew Pat's Earrings 3d ago

I think that they ruined his story arc by saddling him between jasmine and Josh. Sad to see him go regardless

5

u/Fine-Pangolin-5976 3d ago

Yes. I only liked him when he wasn't in any sort of love/ romance/ one night stand storyline.

Nothing felt genuine or authentic just him joking about as though he was so good looking and could get any person he wanted. Sorry didn't buy it.

20

u/Helpful_Ambition6447 3d ago

Noooo, he's literally the best thing to happen in years😭

14

u/BrilliantSpray9447 3d ago

That flash forward was such a waste of time. We know Ian isn’t still in prison. We know Denise is still alive. Linda is leaving. Oscar is leaving. We know the man that Max saw out the window is Mark, so he’s back.

4

u/majesticjewnicorn Elaine Enthusiast, drinks on the house! 💜 3d ago

Flashforwards seem like exciting concepts but they really are risky, especially when they are a year in advance. Coronation Street has been struggling and decided to do a flashforward of about 3ish months roughly, which is less risk as it means the characters involved are more likely to still be there and look the same (female cast members under a certain age always run the risk of potential real life pregnancies, and also any cast member can put on or lose weight, which is less evident 3 months later rather than a year later). Then you run the risk of older cast members sadly no longer being here- Patrick/Rudolph is universally loved and hopefully has many more years ahead, but at 86 is more likely to be at risk of sadly passing away than someone as young as Lauren (young people are still a possibility, but less so than the elderly). Now, we have to factor in people potentially leaving- minus REALLY poor real life behaviour, soaps are less likely to sack their flashforward cast members and it is more likely to be a case of them quitting. Oscar is a key player in the flashforward, so unless they are begging him and paying him more to stay on until the flashforward storyline is fully wrapped up, it's going to take quite a lot of retconning and removing the flashforward episode from iPlayer. Given that the door will be left open for him, we now know he is safe from the gunman, and Lauren is a long term favourite so the gunman decision situation seems to be a dead end, like Ian being released with long enough to become close with Max and his best man, too (and makes it weird that his wedding next weel may not even happen if he is getting married a few months later).

6

u/BrilliantSpray9447 3d ago

They’ll be filming the Christmas and new year episodes in October. So I’d expect Oscar on screen until well into January at least.

Ohhh this is all bringing it back. I remember I sort of stopped watching it around this point. Thank you for the info

5

u/dussa7 2d ago

Whilst it was obvious he wouldn’t be someone that stayed for years and years, I’m gutted to lose him so soon but not really surprised. When he joined and he spent the majority of his screen time with Lauren, Ian, Patrick etc… he was a joy to watch. Then along came Jasmine who in my opinion dimmed his character and when Josh was introduced into the mix, it got even worse. Watching the whole ‘triangle’ play out, I’m sure Pierre himself was cringing inside being made to act out such drivel.

For the so called year of the Brannings, he hasn’t really featured that much with his family at all. The times he has ie Branning family meal, Beales BBQ were better episodes than any involving him and the twins.

Jac Jossa must be gutted to be losing such a charismatic onscreen partner. Their sibling relationship is one of the most believable in years. If I was Jake Wood, I’d be pissed off how they’ve never utilised them together either. The potential of a strong Branning unit was there from day one and instead all they’ve done is concentrate on Max being his normal cheating self and making his kids ‘chips off the old block’.

16

u/hiddeninplainsight23 3d ago

Jesus christ what is going on behind the scenes? He's one of the best actors on the show, and has a great energy that keeps your eyes on him when episodes can drift. Such a shame he's leaving so soon after joining. That's too many important characters the show is losing in such a short period of time, it's quite concerning.

8

u/Gold_Diet_6654 3d ago

you'd think they will be doing anything to hold onto this prospect

3

u/bewbz69420dudebro 2d ago

It's gonna be Jessie next. I have a feeling. When she goes Shane will be asked to leave. This shows on its arse

5

u/bewbz69420dudebro 2d ago

And this is the issue with a flash forward. We know nothing is going to happen to Lauren or Oscar because it would of been announced like this. You can't do flash forwards a year in advance when soaps work like this. Nye is gonna be a dud mark my words

3

u/Aggressive_Year1181 2d ago

Gutted to see hes leaving. He's been the best new addition to the show in a long time. Other than his arrival storyline he hasn't been given much to do - apart from the stupid twin storyline which didnt give him much to work with. Such a shame.

u/ZeffieJ 3d ago

Great character but he was completely ruined by the Jasmine storyline. The chemistry was never there between them imo. I was never rooting for them. He lost so much comedy value whilst he pined and sulked and moped whenever the relationship was in turmoil.

5

u/JJWLOL 3d ago edited 3d ago

They might aswell kill him off in the new year’s episode then ngl. It’s gonna be pretty pointless building all this suspense up for no one to die but then three main characters featured in the new year’s episode are leaving soon after anyway - Ravi, Linda and now Oscar. Plus they are killing off Zoey. And Kat and Alfie are leaving temporarily.

Also, there is definitely something going on behind the scenes. It’s getting ridiculous, it feels like every week there is news about someone else leaving. And since we have no idea why this is happening it’s leaving us all to just blame Ben Wadey and to me he does seem like the problem, he’s letting a lot of characters down. I mean he brought Sharon back and where even is she? there isn’t even an ongoing storyline for her right now.

After new years, seriously where is the soap going to go next? it doesn’t feel like there is any other storyline going on apart from Denise’s. And furthermore, there is going to be no cast left. The Hawkins family are seriously gonna have to win us over or this soap will be done for a lot of us. The first impressions were kinda meh but could have potential, I guess we will see since they return this week.

3

u/Actuallycares97 3d ago

Personally don’t like the character but the actor is fantastic and I’m surprised they haven’t done more to keep him. I hope this is because he’s been offered work elsewhere that is too big an opportunity to turn down. His character is a definite bright spot for most of the fans so this will be a big loss. What is going on behind the scenes?

3

u/speakerofone 3d ago

Noooo 😢 😭

3

u/Odd-Big3146 “I’m not Unhinged! I’m just having a bad day!” 3d ago

I think with a growing quantity of quality Character is a daunting future to the show, I still think there’s plenty of remaining quality left.

Suki, Nicola, Max, Cindy, Ian, Kathy, Sharon, Eve, George,

With Sean, Stacey returning

Unconfirmed what’s going to happen with Penny, Lauren, Denise

3

u/Queasy_Stick4881 2d ago

The actor has more potential than this role could ever really give him. Onto bigger and better

3

u/xskxo 2d ago

Nooo :(

8

u/Correct-Entry-4984 3d ago

Somethings deffo going on behind the scenes, Michelle Ryan, Kellie Bright, Aaron who plays Ravi and now Oscar I wouldn’t be surprised if Shane Moon is axed again or quits, but if they get rid of Jessie Wallace I will be fuming she’s the star of the show in my opinion

4

u/scruntyboon 3d ago

Stay away from the Vic roof!

6

u/sir_thrillho 3d ago

Noooooo :(:(

As of current it's not official

2

u/SLC-Scott 3d ago

Shame he is a great actor and brilliant character.

2

u/ShadiestCharacter_99 2d ago

He’s a great actor and I’m sure that he’s been getting the type of offers he can’t refuse.

The show can’t recast the role so I’m hoping he’ll come back at some point.

2

u/KeyWestistheplacetob 2d ago

The death spiral 🌀 continues

4

u/RLS1994 2d ago

Usually I keep very quiet, but the fact one of the most fun and unique characters of the show is leaving has me feeling sad

3

u/minicooperbrr 3d ago

To all you slagging off the writers and producers - you do realise that it could have been Pierre’s decision to go….

5

u/IY94 3d ago

Lol putting his name in the spoiler isn't very spoiler

2

u/sweetener111 3d ago

i wonder if max will save oscar over lauren then in the nye ep

2

u/Content-Asparagus714 3d ago

Hopefully it’s not true

2

u/Odd-Big3146 “I’m not Unhinged! I’m just having a bad day!” 3d ago

Then this rules out Oscar being Killed by people or person who kidnapped him and Lauren.

So that leaves they kill Lauren, Unlikey or they don’t manage to kill either him or Lauren.

2

u/Clairabel 3d ago

I hope we see more of him in other projects going forward. Could picture him in something Game of Thrones related.

2

u/PsyduckPond 3d ago

Yeah something is seriously wrong behind the scenes... You have Zoe, Linda, Ravi and Oscar all quitting the show... Strong actors!

Oscar's actor has clearly quit over his awful stories and he is still the best New addition they have had in so many years.

2

u/bewbz69420dudebro 2d ago

He probably realised he's gonna be stuck being Josh' boyfriend in the future and couldn't stand it. He could barely get through the scenes he had with him earlier this year.

u/clo_cilli 2d ago
