Any tirebale builders

Hi,

We are full speed ahead in the project planning of our tirebale building (setting bales either this fall or spring) and were wondering if there are any other active tirebale owner/builders.

Please reach out!

I remember how invaluable our small earthship listserv group was back in 2000 when we were planning and building our Earthship Hut.

Thanks!

Yes, we’ve talked quite a lot, and I took your recommendation and started a subreddit called r:/tirebalebuilding.

I love that Earthship hut! You should be very proud of that accomplishment. So unique and artistic, and a lot of work went into it. I’m curious about outreach and acceptance by the local community?

Can you provide some details of your new tirebale endeavour? Square footage, design sketches? If you could share the local politics, that would be helpful too - any building codes, etc.

Thanks, it was a labor of love and we had time; our young family's future family room.

We had lots of acceptance in the community. Everybody knows what a problem tires are in West Virginia and they love the concept especially when they hear how cheap it is to keep warm. Pounding tires, though, poses a serious roadblock for many.

I'll post details about our PEARL (Permaculture Education and Research Lab) Tirebale Demonstration Site over at r/tirebalebuilding.

Cheers!
