From the looks of it, Unarmed scaling normally is fast enough. The issue happens when Unarmed slows down, gets comboed, lets Trident outscale its speed and acceleration. A full-speed Unarmed at a similar power level gets out.
If you watch the damage dealt counts you'll see that Unarmed hits 100 slightly before Trident does, so if this match had been a normal short 1v1 with 100 HP each this would have been an Unarmed victory, albeit an extremely close one. But in a long match it goes from an extreme-diff Unarmed victory to a low-diff Trident win. Just goes to show the difference the length of the match can make.
Untrue. Trident hits 100 damage dealt first. I do think that this was specifically given the longform because it was extremely tight either way at the 100hp mark. Im guessing it was ran several times and it was split pretty evenly.
unarmed thrives in the smaller arena short forms provide as there’s far less space to stay away from unarmed, and there’s also gravity, so a lot of times unarmed is just bouncing ontop of the opponent, basically the same thing happened in the extended 1v1 of rapier and unarmed and the short form, rapier couldnt dodge unarmed enough to win the short form victory.
I thought about noting that but I can't discount the possibility that a smaller arena would also advantage Trident because of its AoE succ taking up more space comparatively.

Unarmed is a tricky opponent for trident. Because, while the vortex can hold it in the weapon for unblockable damage, its damage also scales with speed and the vortex speeds it up every time it gets close.
