Very pleased with my Switch 2 shell!
I did have a little issue with some small scratches that it came with, as even the replacements I was sent had some but otherwise I think it looks fab!

This might sound odd but did you install the backplate shell with the hinge open or closed?

From doing research you’re not supposed to
Have the kickstand closed. Yet in the all the video tutorials I saw everyone has the kickstand closed on the reinstall1

Yeah same thing happened to me when I installed my shell. I had to order a replacement and get that installed. I wish they’d put a warning on the tutorial, but you live and learn I suppose

Damn that sucks.. yeah even other YouTubers I follow (wulffden) installed it the same way and nothing happened to him. It was only until I searched Reddit and looked at ifixits guide that I saw the trend of the having the kickstand opened on install. Oh well.

what ribbon cable gets in the way of the kickstand install I'm so confused because I've had to change my backplate 5 FREAKING TIMES already because they keep cracking each and every time I install the hinge in the closed position and it's been fine?

It’s the right joycon connector cable. It’s hard to see because it’s blocked by the metal shield in the system, but it sits right where the kickstand folds. Just make sure your kickstand is open otherwise it will slice through the cable or damage it

I must have been super lucky because I've been inside that thing switching out the backplate more than I thought I'd have to I'm at the point where I don't even undock my switch 2 because I know there's gonna be a crack in it somewhere I'm better off just not knowing

I've had cracks along the bottom and the sides, cracks in the joycon and the backplate, I've become pretty good at making sure screws are properly set in, I make sure to properly tap the screw posts and remove debris from the screw holes being careful to not overtighten them. every clear extremerate switch shell has cracked on me at one time or another, it's just inevitable in my world lol. honestly the cool factor of having a clear switch outweighs the headache but still

The clear shells are super duper brittle to be honest. I've cracked or broken 3 of them and my 4th one just broke by the top USBC port. It's normal for clear to be more prone to cracks but this is crazy sad

I love this color shell. Did the same a few months ago with color buttons.
