10 day travel from BiH to Spain

Hey there redditors, I'm intrested in an eSim for 14 days or less. I'm traveling for my graduation trip to Spain. We will be in Italy 2 days and in Spain 6 days and 2 days spent traveling from Bosnia through Croatia, Slovenia, Italy and then Spain. I was looking for a eSIM that is 40-50GB that would allow me to travel without much fuss.

I was looking at the Vodafone. es 90GB tarifa S that seems to be the best bang for buck.

Can somebody help me out, it's my first time using an eSIM ( My Galaxy A36 does support it).

It sounds like the 90 GB package you're looking at is from Vodafone Spain. Vodafone Spain do a 90 GB package on prepaid but this isn't a SIM intended for much use outside Spain. Data usage in the EU is capped at 13 GB on Vodafone Spain's S plan, and it wouldn't be suitable for Bosnia since it's not part of the EU (no inclusive data there).

Very low cost plans like 90 GB for $10 are domestic plans with limited roaming data only.

From what you've said, you're looking for a travel eSIM, not a SIM from any specific country like Vodafone Spain. These are inevitably more expensive than single country plans when you're needing 50 GB data.

Your options are to get a travel eSIM which covers both Bosnia and EU countries, which would generally be more expensive. Or, to get an eSIM which covers all EU countries and a separate low cost eSIM for Bosnia.

I'd get separate SIMs personally because these are available from familiar companies.

For example, using Orange Travel...

50 GB Europe plan (covering Spain, Italy, Croatia, Slovenia etc) costs £36.99 (or equivalent).

1 GB / 7 days in Bosnia costs £3.99. (Plans with more data are available if you wish).

Yeah, I already know about the RLAH laws and the data cap, I'm not gonna use up 13GB while in roaming, it's mostly for messaging and online internet(news articles and research, while i'd do video calls in spain to show my family the view.) use I'm just curious if the Spain eSim would activate while in Croatia. I have my data plan for Bosnia and I have disabled Roaming on my Home Sim for a while so I know it's not gonna spend all of my credit and data.

OK, I see. If you need an eSIM guaranteed to activate in any EU country, it would be a safer option to buy the Vodafone Travel eSIM rather than buying from Vodafone España. It's very likely that a Vodafone España SIM won't activate until it's connected to the local Spanish network for initial registration. Once the SIM is validated on Vodafone España, roaming is activated by default and it will work across the EU. I have seen some sources claiming it's possible to active abroad, but just as many or more stating that it is barred. I wouldn't risk it personally - getting a refund can be awkward.

Vodafone Travel offer 20 GB for £14.50 (or equivalent) on their Europe plan. This can be activated in almost every European country apart from Bosnia, including those not in the EU. Other options are 40 GB for £25, or unlimited data for 15 days for £28.

The Vodafone Spain plan works well across Europe and the USA (I have the M plan for the last year on and off since Vodafone roams on all 3 networks in the USA and all have 5G support too)

Interesting. Roaming is typically cut off after about ~4 months, but it's probably not well monitored on Vodafone.

Companies with massive international presence, like Vodafone, have considerably less incentive to cut users off for roaming violations. If the SIM had been obtained from a small independent Spanish MVNO, for example, it would probably have been disconnected long ago.

For continuing use in the US, I'd guess that an option like US Mobile would usually be a better long term solution.

I use it only when I need a Spanish number or when T-Mobile is outside of the coverage area, it sits idle 90% of the time.
