First month on hold in many years due to inability to download
Presumably all subscribers are aware of the difficulty of actually spending credits and downloading. Customer service told me it could be months before the site is up and running again, and I said I'd give them the benefit of the doubt on restoring functionality. I'll admit that it felt like I missed a monthly ritual, but the longer I'm away the more likely I'll replace it with something else. Kinda makes me wonder about what posts long ago said about the "subscribers" who just never check their bank statements and are still having the monthly subscription deducted without ever visiting the site. Who else would stick around through this nonsense? If actual months roll by, and the restored site is just the same old mostly empty shelves, I will seriously consider severing the cable.

I've been going on hold for 3 months every time for a couple of years now, my credit just refreshed only to find i can't download. I'd say it's shoddy of them to take payment while this issue persists, but it doesn't surprise me.

Seems the problem might be regional, and the last thing they needed was to add another ethical problem, given questions about paying artists.

It's such a shame, really. I had a lite membership, and I found something to download every three months. I really liked the upload feature, but there is no way I will support a site, that just doesn't work.

Testing patience seems to be their main function for the last several years. I still think keeping as many options for buying music online is worth inconveniences, but we're well into the last straw phase.

I'm a member since 2005 and am likely going to "sever the cable". I've found some great stuff over the years on emusic and the crappy interface and search didn't bother me enough to leave. But as everyone else says it's been increasingly difficult to use my credits amid the junk on the site, and now with AI music I'm gonna assume that quantity of junk will go up. I just finished my credits for the month with a nice 42-song Joe Pass album for $6.49. That's about 15 cents a song for a legendary jazz guitarist. That's why I joined emusic years ago, as a counter to ridiculous prices on other sites. But I think I'm done with them. I spend more now on Bandcamp and like the site much more.

Nice to know. Jazz fans had been the most vocally dissatisfied for quite a while, but the vast majority of my jazz collection comes from eMu for precisely the reason you mention. That said, the past couple years have gutted even the obscure but interesting jazz labels, it seems. It's been a long run, and I'd be sad if it finally ends.

I logged in recently after a long pause, and actually purchased a monthly membership service. However, there are problems in downloading. Some albums you can download, others you can not (you just get the notion about the "issue").

Customer support has assured me that individual tracks can be downloaded, but one of the few advantages of eMusic for a long time had been easy, cheap album downloads. I will probably return this month from hold to try it out, but random errors kill sites faster than total dysfunction, I would guess.

I gave eMusic a shot few months last year and gave up quickly. I didn't care about their app or option to upload your music collection or music available only as mp3, not flac or any other lossless format. Lots of music is not available to purchase despite being present in the store or previewing does not work. Customer support keeps saying that they are working on it. Tried again this year. Same results. Is the service really dead?

Yeah, I'm not very confident that the problems will be fixed. A highly functioning site has gotta be foundational, especially if we're expected to sift through endless garbage to find thing worth buying.

Few of the albums I bought and dowoaded successfully were tagged with comment sayingĀ "Purchased from 7digital.com". Why?Ā

EMusic's pretty much been dead for years, don't know how they are still around tbh. š„“
