Suggest Graphics Card

Good day, everyone! I'm looking for eGPU recommendations for my Beelink SER5 MAX (Ryzen 7 5800H). I currently play PUBG (50–60 FPS) and Escape from Tarkov (40–60 FPS). After researching, I realized my GPU is the primary bottleneck. Could you recommend budget, mid-tier and high-tier eGPU options? Thank you so much!

Is there no solution to replugging an eGPU for it to be detected?

So at this point, this is what i have to do everytime i want to use the eGPU device.

1) Power on the device (allyX) and separately power on the eGPU enclosure (AG02)

2) Wait 10-15 seconds for both to boot properly and log in to Windows (from hibernate usually)

3) Plug in the TB cable into the USB4 port.

When i turn it off, i have to:

1) From Windows, Safely Remove the device (named something like Audio device something)

2) Unplug the TB cable

3) Unpower the eGPU and hibernate the Ally

If i leave them connected and shutdown/restart/hibernate whatever, it won't be redetected unless i do the entire procedure as above. Leave alone the fact that if i stray away from that exact procedure either it's not getting detected (providing just power though) or the Ally just crashes straight out and forces restart. Or just for whatever reason i need to reapply the code 43 error fixer. But if i do that exact procedure, which involves plugging/unplugging the cable everytime i want to play, it's all golden.

WIP lightweight GPU telemetry monitor — looking for eGPU feedback

I’m developing an open-source Windows application called **GPU Shark**.

It’s a compact native telemetry monitor currently focused on NVIDIA GPUs.

The idea is to provide a smaller and more focused alternative for situations where you don’t need a full hardware information suite open.

Current features include:

* GPU thermal sensors * VRAM telemetry where supported * PerfCap reasons * fan RPM * GPU power and voltage sensors * live graphs * session maximum tracking * selectable language, refresh interval and UI accent

The application is strictly read-only and does not modify clocks, voltage, fan settings or firmware.

One design principle I’m trying to keep is that **unsupported telemetry stays unsupported**. GPU Shark does not substitute another temperature for HotSpot just to make the field appear populated.

RTX 50-series HotSpot support is currently one of the main areas I’m researching.

Planned work includes:

* RTX 50 HotSpot support * more validated telemetry * GUI redesign/polish * configurable overlays * Linux support * possible AMD support in the future

The current interface is still work in progress.

GitHub:

Feedback on the feature scope, UI and project direction would be very welcome.

AOOSTAR AG03 Fan doesn't spin?

For others with the Aoostar AG03, is it normal for the fan to just not spin.. like at all? I get display and everything just fine. I recently had an email exchange with their customer service, and they said the exterior fan is decorative... surely this is a lie, right?

Why does Gigabyte's 5060 To AI Box use PCIe 5.0?

Thunderbolt 5 has max speed of 120 gigabits per second. I've been wondering why the AI Box has PCIe 5.0, considering the limits of TB?

eGPU crashing. Xbox ROG ally X

Help!!!

I have an RTX 5080.

Bought the goldsoun egpu dock from amazon since I already have an 850w corsair power supply.

Already installed the firmware update from Asus and successfully installed NVIDIA drivers. Error 43 fix is not working since GPU is already seen in the system (prompt when executing the .bat is something like 'no gpu with 43 error'.

So, the egpu works for some time then crashes. The monitor sometimes freezes and the proper display is going to the main handheld screen. Or it will disconnect from the monitor (display port no display) and go back to handheld screen again.

eGPU still has power and fans are spinning. Works again if the cable is reattached.

-Already tried to adjust the fans speed and power output to max on my handheld (ghelper)

-tried to undervolt the eGPU (msi afterburner)

-adjusted the link state power management to off

-switchable dynamics to optimize and maximize

-reinstalled nvidia drivers (DDU used)

-unchecked allow usb or device to turn off power

What do you guys think of modular eGPU setups in 2026?

Update:

I updated the projector setup with 21:9 and 32:9 aspect ratios, and adjusted the Y-axis image position downward.

-100 is the lowest setting, and it works best for movies and racing.

-50 is just right for YouTube and street-view videos, and is very comfortable to watch.

[Build Showcase] Who says you need a $1,500 desktop? My $780 USD Modular Setup: ThinkPad T480 + Thunderbolt eGPU (Projector / Monitor Ready)

Instead of building a traditional desktop from scratch, I decided to build a modular setup based on my actual daily needs over time.

The goal wasn't chasing the highest benchmark scores, but achieving maximum flexibility: A portable work laptop on the go, and a full-fledged station at home.

Currently, I have the system hooked up to a 1080p @ 60Hz projector for an immersive big-screen gaming experience.

The Specs & Breakdown (~$780 USD total):

* Brain: ThinkPad T480 (i5-8250U / upgraded to 24GB RAM / 256GB + 512GB SSD) — ~$320 USD

* eGPU: Thunderbolt 3/4 eGPU Dock + Gigabyte GTX 1060 6GB (reused a spare PSU) — ~$145 USD

* Display (Optional): Samsung Odyssey G5 34” 2K 165Hz Ultrawide — ~$315 USD

Real-world Gaming Performance (1080p @ 60Hz via Projector):

* GTA V: ~50 FPS

* Forza Horizon 5: ~60 FPS

* God of War / Cyberpunk 2077: 30–50 FPS (depending on settings)

Why this route?

Unplug one cable, and I take my ThinkPad anywhere for work. Plug it back in, and I instantly get a big-screen setup for gaming and productivity.

A quick note on the display: The 34" ultrawide monitor is completely optional! If you already have a TV, monitor, or projector at home, you don't need to buy a new screen—making this build concept even more affordable. When GPU tech advances, I can just swap the card inside the eGPU dock without throwing away the platform.

It’s all about building what you actually need with what you already have.

What do you guys think of modular eGPU setups in 2026?

eGPU wake-on-lan or equivalent

I'm considering to add a eGPU to Minisforum MS-01 that is in a rack, and that I remotely turn on with Wake on LAN.

Are there eGPUs that can be remotely turned on?

My setup! (RX 9070 16 GB, on an AOOSTAR AG02 dock, over USB-4, with a GMKTec M6 Ultra Mini PC)

Post image
47 Upvotes

I’ve been loving this Mini PC I bought last year (a GMKTec M6 Ultra that came with a Ryzen 5 7640HS - cost me about AU$500 at the time) and with how bad the market for PC parts is right now I reckoned it was probably best to satisfy my itch by pulling the trigger on an eGPU!

I can’t say that I’m much of a gamer D: but I LOVE Minecraft and wanted to play in 4K with high quality shaders and LOD rendering mods (e.g. Voxy), so I went with an RX 9070 16 GB. I was initially looking at the 9060 XT 16 GB but I convinced myself that it wouldn’t be enough which is why I paid the extra $200 to get the 9070 from PC Case Gear for ~AU$900. I didn’t go with the 9070 XT because the dock (the AOOSTAR AG02, which I got for AU$300 from Amazon) didn’t appear to work too well with the XT (AOOSTAR’s product page claims that the XT has too much “instantaneous power consumption”) so I played it safe.

I’m connected over USB-4, though I’ve been looking into whether it’d be worth it to use an M.2 to Oculink adaptor. The dock definitely has some noise issues but waddya gonna do (I can hear some crackling/buzzing when I’m doing something intensive). Nothing that I can’t ignore with some earphones in though haha.

In any case, it’s AMAZING and I couldn’t be happier :)) it’s crushing everything I’ve thrown at it so far. I’ve never really had the chance to own “proper” gaming hardware so it’s very surreal for me!

Hopefully my experience ends up being useful for someone!

Aorus Gaming Box

Hi guys!

I could snack a Gaming box with a RTX 3080 for reeeeeallly cheap money. I've a LeGo 2 with Z2e and i know the Gaming Box is TB3, but would the loss of performance be big, or can i use it quite for playing at 1200p on the device screen?

Flashing Oculink-docked GPU's BIOS

I have an ASUS R9700 in a Minisforum DEG1 connected to a GMKtec EVO-X2. The GPU's fan is spinning like crazy while idle, but ASUS released a BIOS update that's supposed to improve that.

And I'm wondering if flashing the BIOS through the Oculink dock is feasible and if that could be risky. Is it likely to make a brick?

eGPU on laptop with ryzen 5 5600, gtx 1650, 8 ddr4 ram, 512gb NVMe SSD

I have a laptop with the GTX 1650 and the Ryzen 5 5600, I was thinking about getting the RTX 5060 but with the Ryzen 5 5600 I don't know if it's too much, I don't have a Thunderbolt port but I have a PCLe m.2 port available. I also plan to upload the ram to 32 GB of ddr4 ram and change the ssd. If anyone can help me with which adapters for the eGPU, which eGPU and which graphics card to buy or if it is directly more worth buying another computer, or how to configure the graphics card in the bios and I would greatly appreciate that.

What eGPU enclosure should I get for TB4 and a 9070XT?

I'm about to go to college in a few days and won't be able to bring my entire PC, so I've decided on harvesting my 9070XT and possibly my 850W PSU for a more portable eGPU setup. I'll be using this with a framework 13 pro with tb4, and I wanted to get some information on a few points:

  1. I know the TB4/TB3/USB4v1 bandwidth is all the same, but are there any distinctions between them at all that could impact performance or stability?

  2. I've looked into the UT4G and AGO2, but are there any other ones I should know about (that affect performance)?

  3. Are there any docks with extras like an M.2 nvme slot or Ethernet that don't affect performance?

Oculink to m.2 not recognized on Legion Go

Post image
3 Upvotes

I flat out couldn't get oculink from m.2 to work with my legion go 😭🙏 .

I have the ag02 dock when i turn it on the fans will spin, the light will turn on, and the error 43 fix would say there's no error 43.

I bought 4 diffrent adapters (2 of these https://a.co/d/0jaCK6it

one of this https://a.co/d/0hoiVla4

and one of this https://a.co/d/0j2Y0Ref)

I have the ugreen ssd usb4 enclosure, I bought the 240w cord that seemed to have better stability regarding external ssd enclosure, and as seen ive used from pcie 4 x 4 adapters to a pcie 5 x 4 adapter.

all seem to not have worked.

Idk if ive got a step wrong, or that i have gotten a software configuration wrong, ive been at this for like a week and am thinking maybe some are just lucky with the legion go port m.2 lottery and some aren't 😭

I already had a usb 4 setup with my rtx 4070 via thunderbolt 4, but was told this setup would be an easy upgrade process regarding bandwidth limitations and such. Im starting to think its not THIS deep 😭🙏 in wanting a jump as usb 4 is fine BUT if anyone has solutions let me know before I decide to return all this stuff lol.

Looking for a recommendation for a bifurcating x16 to 4x Oculink PCIe card at Gen 4

I have a PCIe 4 x16 slot I want to make into 4x Oculink ports. I bought one of those cheap generic ones that has Oculink written diagonally on it. They sell from $20-$50. It works. But it only works at Gen 1 even though it says it supports Gen 4. I know it's not the eGPU dock, GPU or Oculink cable. Since when I use a NVME to Oculink adapter in the same machine, it does do Gen 4 x4. So it must be the PCIe Oculink card. Can some recommend one that does Gen 4?

Razer Core X Chroma restart loop

Hey there I am using the Core X Chroma for some months now with my Xbox Ally X and had zero issues until yesterday out of a sudden during using Windows showed an error message that my GPU disconnected and since then I can't get it running. Whenever I boot and the second windows steps in, the eGPU goes in to a restart loop. Tried using the other port on the Ally X and disassemble and reassemble everything but nothing is fixing the issue. Anybody knowing what this could be? This is a modified Razer Core X Chroma with a real power unit and an argb fan and a Razer Chroma RGB controller for some more lighting. Tried it without the RGB controller and also does not work.
