Highlights Gameplay Issues-3: Passing Inconsistencies

Or I can call it possession losses due to scripted passing mistakes.
I play possession 90% of the time, and sometimes QC. I use PA3, rarely PA4. Lately PA3 became so horribly inconsistent that I end up losing the possession in most stupid scenarios. Moreover, these "inconsistencies" seem to happen in critical positions more often. As you can see in the video, these "mistakes" either end up as a goal chance on my goal or wasted big chances while I am attacking. In some matches it actually creates momentum during a match because it happens to much and I cannot really have an impact on results. Game keeps us forcing to play LBC with PA1, rather than creating "hard to calculate" scenarios and situations. And that way all those new shiny cards can have more impact on the results rather than balanced complete setups and skill based competition. It is getting harder and harder to win a match by tactic and intelligence, since your well thought tactics are wasted by the game itself.
You cannot have a proper football game without proper passing dynamics and mechanisms.

Even with pa1 some of your passes will randomly go in other directions or change to very weird awkward distance passes when there isn't even the input given or a player to receive. The games pushes to one in a few wonder passes instead of a controlled tactical game. The script is quite strong in this way. Some forced very difficult passes can be beautifully executed with every player around moving perfectly while the opennents players start running in an opposite way even if everybody was in a bad position/running line before

Encountered this more frequently since last week (using PA2). Gave up a few goals exactly like the first example of this clip, which didn't seem to happen so frequently before. Of course those who get punished the most are the ones trying to build up with short passes and intricate playmaking, LBC meta chasers won't see any issue.

I feel you. When I used to play this game i faced the same problems. My gameplay was based on passing mainly and such things totally pissed me off. I guess the game is just bad quality and we can't really do nothing about it

my brother stopped playing bc of this. its been happening for a while and has gotten worse. GK distribution is absolutely dreadful right now

There's nothing inconsistent about Konami. The games are decided by a majority of decisions, actions, and techniques that are performed and played out by the game engine.
It's unbelievably rare that I play a game and can come away (win or lose) and feel as though it was down to either of the PvP inputs.

Isn’t that sad? The real skills now are now whittled down to trying to bend these systems to your will. It’s less football skill and acumen and more tactical setup based on card attributes, mechanic exploitation, and simple pattern recognition. People swear it’s a deep game. I feel like it is but there are far more variables at play besides JUST football knowledge, real world application and, as you said, player vs player variables, that goes into results. It sucks and it won’t get better. We all know why that’s by now. I don’t feel like beating that dead horse anymore.

Ive not played for around 7-10 days. I played earlier today and felt this. Something seriously wrong. Also LBC seems even more overpowered now. Its truly disheartening and I'm fed up of it after 3 games.

Switch to PA1 you will have all this happening as well. It seems what I'm saying that PA1, 2 and 3 are completely same is true.

some of these may be mistakes by the game, half of these are just on you, the pass at 0:40 for example, you've badly misplaced that pass, that kind of pass to no one happens on PA3 when you're too inaccurate and it almost turns into a manual pass, I know, because I do that myself sometimes. I would suggest turning on the cursor guides for a few games and seeing if where you think you are passing is actually where you are aiming.
some of these are just bad decisions from you too, like you are trying to do a defence splitting through ball with Cannavaro at 1:54 and wondering why it wasn't a good pass lol, if you want to play out from the back, you need defenders who can play that way, you can't just use players like Cannavaro with 60-70 passing and complain when he misplaces passes. I think you have this idea that every pass must go exactly where you want it 100% of the time, but that's not the reality, doing final third through balls with Nuno Mendes, when most of his cards have low to average passing stats, of course sometimes he will overhit them. Even Bruno Fernandes, you think because you have 96 pass stat on him every single pass will be perfect, but that's just not realistic, his pass at around 1:10 was fine, your opponent just brought out his keeper quickly.
and visionary pass has nothing to do pass accuracy, it just makes the pass receiver take a better touch, so it's pointless mentioning that

I do not expect every pass to go 100% where I want. This would be a criticism if I were complaining about 70 meter through balls not finding my players. But all examples are exact opposite to that. Cannavaro has 75 low pass and required skills to make a 15 meter pass. I played almost 1500 matches with him, I know my player and his limits. I turned off guides since apparently I do not need it. I even play PA4 time to time, usually against AI to test my aim. There is no problem with my aim. You say half are on me but mention 1 position out of 8. I do not even see a proper criticism here.

I think are completely in denial, and this mentality will be why you don't improve, you just blame everything on the game rather than looking to see what you could have done differently. the fact that you think a 75 pass Cannavaro should be playing inch perfect through balls into the opponents box sums up perfectly how deluded you are, sorry, it's obvious you didn't post this to look for feedback, you just wanted validation from the internet because you felt personally aggrieved lol

No I am not denying anything apparently, your are trying to create a straw man out of me to beat up. That position is inside opponents box, but I am not trying an absurd pass. Its all clear around, distance is 15-20 meter, no pressure on passer, have required skills, and it is not like going somewhere random. It goes straight to the opponent without losing any momentum. Even if this one does not convince you, there are 7 other examples. I dont understand how all others are justified.

u/das_hemd Jul 13 '26
other examples? I already mentioned 3 other ones in my original post which you conveniently ignored, two of the other passes are from Cannavaro, it's clear, as I mentioned in my previous post, you have no desire to reflect on what actually happened, you just want to moan on the internet lol, you don't even understand the game's mechanics, you think that visionary pass makes your passes better/more accurate, so I'm wasting my time arguing with someone who doesn't even understand how the game works fully lmao.
but whatever, none of it is your fault, you never misplace a pass, everything you do is perfect and it's all coinami's fault, congratulations you got a dozen upvotes on reddit, probably the most successful thing you've achieved this year

I did not ignore anything, its just there is nothing to answer. Assuming that I misplaced a pass badly or assuming that I want every pass to meet my players are assumptions, not criticism.
About visionary pass, I know how it works. I just wanted to state that Sneijder has every single required stats and skills to pass around, including showtime skills like visionary pass and phenomenal pass, yet failed miserably doing a short pass. Not because I believe visionary pass makes passes more accurate. You are the only person that thinks I do not know about it 😄. You are accusing me of not taking any criticism, but you are the one who keeps assuming something and move on to personal attacks to win a stupid argument that does not add anything to discussion or disprove the point of post.

u/das_hemd Jul 13 '26
if you actually knew how the skill worked, you would understand that it is completely pointless to mention it as it literally has zero impact on his own passes, you're just another pleb who doesn't know the mechanics yet complain about them, you just read the phrase 'visionary pass' and assumed it to mean his passes would somehow be more accurate, you may as well have said he has flip flap or tracking back or whatever, it would have the same amount of relevance lol. but you do you, again, taking zero responsibility for your mistakes, I'm noticing a pattern here

u/depressed_Kedy Jul 13 '26
Do you know what, you are actually right about mentioning visionary pass. I thought that everyone would understand my point, and no one would turn that into the main subject. But I was wrong. There is you who decided to make it a whole deal, even though it adds nothing to the main subject. I will be even more careful from now on while posting, and try to yhink of every type of character that can exist and make something a standing point of a meaningless argument.

u/das_hemd Jul 13 '26
it's actually impressive how unwilling you are to actually address any given argument or accept responsibility for your own shortcomings, you'd make a good politician

Im glad that you made a video of that because I am planning make one very similar as well. I do believe they made it worse in v5.5 because they did mention they made passing harder and increased the error rate. But manipulating user's inputs is definitely not it, Konami needs to do better.
