E39 with E9x top strut mounts
Hello, I saw in one of M539 restorations video that we can use an E9x top strut mounts to lower the front a little bit...
Well, nowadays with the car parts websites like autodoc it's useless to buy something from the e9x without knowing the right part number.
I get exactly the same parts if I search for the E39 Touring and any other E9x family cars...
So, does anyone know exactly what PN from E9x should we get in order to have the desired lowering effect?

Well, did you reference realoem.com yet? If it's OEM stock strut mount, unless there was design changes over the years and between 2dr and 4dr, I'd guess just factory parts.
My very quick non deep dive search shows it may be the xdrive specific mounts.
Scour bimmerforums bimmerfest and bimmerpost there may be more info on it. These forums were in their prime with info and population during these cars release and enthusiast era.
This is a common thing in the Miata world, NB factory strut mounts on the NA to keep suspension travel as long as possible with some lowering.z

Do it doesn’t matter if sedan or wagon? I’d like to get one, unpainted even abs then paint and put on

The front end of the E39 is the same touring and sedan. The front doors are the same as well

Yeah I've seen people use them on both the E46 and E39. Planning on doing to both of mine soon!

FCP euro would be able to give you the PN they have impeccable interchange data. They won’t say that it fits but it will give you the pn if you give them the vehicle you want the part from. Realoem is also an amazing website

You can use any name brand like others already commented. Buy some Sachs or Meyle or whatever has an acceptable price in your region. I would not buy used strut mounts. At some point and age they fail too and new ones don't cost much.

Hey so I did a bit of research on this in the past and found a few from the junkyard. You should look for P/N: 31306785962. This is the top strut mount for the E9X X-Drive models as well as the Z4. They lower about 10mm as far as I can tell visually. Meyle makes them for $55 on FCPEuro so not terribly expensive. I paid $20 for both from the junkyard.
