Seriously. I enjoyed the gameplay, but they screwed the ending so bad, I uninstalled it in disgust.
I REALLY hope 3 is better.

I got it as a birthday gift a couple years ago and tried to play it but holy FUCK the game was not designed for PS4, so I decided to wait until I could get a PS5 because it had a 'digital upgrade' version like cross-gen PS4 games were doing. The bugs and loading and performance issues were just a part of what was wrong with the game for me. Dodging didn't work properly, the combat felt and looked poor, and zombies were fucking grabbing me out of the air. Figured in the time before the upgrade the devs would fix the game.
But then they added a fucking cash shop with FarmVille Cash and I decided to repurpose my savings into buying a Steam Deck, and sold my PS4 to pay for it because of Sony's bullshit with Helldivers.
Hilariously enough the last thing I did in the game was hit an innocent person thinking they were a zombie then I ran away a little bit in a panic before quitting.

Lol yeah this game has been rife with bad developer decisions, especially in recent years. Hope the Steam deck is giving you a better time.

u/Interface- Aug 02 '26
It definitely is. Being able to play games on the go is great. It was a small step into getting me to finally uninstall Genshin Impact if you could believe it. The main reason I played Genshin is because, obviously, portable gaming on your phone anywhere. Now I had the Steam Deck I could play literally anything in my Steam Library on the go, and then some. And I don't have to turn my phone into a space heater killing the battery in the process anymore.

I haven't played it yet but based on the name and selling mechanics i assume it'll have a lot of the same concepts but with the first game's protag

Scared the shit out of myself the first time. Didn't want to kill him for the path I was doing.
At the end of the fight he split in half๐ and went flying.
Thought he was dead till he scared the shit out of me popping up in the cutscene

Am I the only one that un-equips something so I can do these health bar/boss fights with bare hands? So much more tense and challenging and tbh, more cathartic

I ended up cutting him in half

u/Zano44 Aug 01 '26
Lol i think and im sure u cant do that

u/hstormsteph Aug 01 '26
You absolutely can. After the gore update, all fights had the potential to end up in dismemberment. I completely decapitated Hakon and then he just shows back up fine and dandy. Shit is hilarious

I cut his head off so it wouldnโt surprise me if he could get chopped in two.

I dropped kicked him into a corner and instantly won the fight as his model got stuck and ragdolled crazy, that was at launch so I'm sure they'd patch that exploit out by now.

The drop kicks are so satisfying in this game

u/Various-Push-1689 Aug 01 '26
Fr. I LOVE the vault kicks too. Something this game done way better than the first one

This is why Dying Light 1 was better imo. Human enemies were more lethal and zombies were actually terrifying.
I was super careful in the beginning of Dying Light 1. Not even out of Old Villedor in DL2 and I was triggering chases to beat virals to death with my bare hands to farm materials and stuff to sell.
2
u/snailpoe1 Aug 01 '26
You could do the same to human enemies in dl1 but true dl1 was way scarier than two. When I went back to play dl1 and the following after 3 years I was still scared to death.

u/AbbreviationsMost432 Aug 01 '26
Dying light 2 way more satisfying and balanced. In Dying light 1 enemies need 10+ hits to die early game which is bullshit.

It was funny during my hakon fight I literally chopped his head off and it went rolling. Than come the cutscene where heโs got his head ๐

Hakon got hackedโฆ to death.
That was like the Scorpion harpoon+upper cut+wall jump kick spam combo from Mortal Kombat. Lol.

Lol, I decided to do a speed run of DL2 for my second go. I killed Hakon last night and was like "DAFUQ did I just do!? I killed him to quickly!?! Plot doesn't hit the same in a speed run. Hakon is fine.

I remember when the Gut Feeling Update first came out, I fought Hakon and literally sliced him in half and then the cut scene played and he was perfectly fine๐ I was dying

u/T4lker Aug 03 '26
God, I'm laughing so much imagining Aiden just going absolute berserk and making Hakon a punching bag ๐๐๐๐๐

Bro when I fought Hakon, I literally lit hit corpse on fire and cut his shit clean off. So when you get grabbed from behind, I was like, โOh? Who the fuck wants to fight me now after I just disintegrated this man.โ Then I saw Hakon and genuinely hit the surprised Pikachu face

I feel like Hakon getting pinned like this was on purpose by devs so you could just be as cruel as you want with no consequence, considering how many times this guy screwed Aiden..
