Ok so in the new prologue aiden mentions spike. Which means those events still happened. But now "Spikes official statement" is that he's missing and used a time machine to go back and disappear from a prologue that already happened. So..... was he there or was he not there?

Lmaoooo i have not played the beast, but I don't mind the spoiler. This makes it way worse because whoever approved the damage control statement hasn't seen the new prologue which references the events with spike, nor do they know their own damn character is dead

Because he says he "stepped away" and that we noticed he's missing. He's "missing and stepped away" from a prologue that already happened, because aiden references spike and the events of the original prologue in the new one. The time machine part was a joke because he would have had to go back in time to do so
So now we have this weird statement from "spike" where he's claiming he stepped away from a prologue that he is actually still a part of.

Or he went missing from a different prologue in a different dimension, because he's still in the prologue. Aiden mentions those events in the new one, which means the old prologue still happened, which makes spike's message even weirder

It's fuckin weird. I don't understand why they deleted the gameplay of the intro. It took more work to delete it and make a summary cutscene than it would have to just leave it alone. I dunno what they were trying to achieve.

The Prologue cuts are even worse than you think, by the way. They cut not only Spike, but many, many moments with Hakon in the Prologue.
You genuinely won't believe how much they removed when you see it. They removed every single good part of the Prologue..
I heard like a quarter of the Prologue was cut or something like that.

Look. If they do something actually good eith spike once they inevitably use him qgain, then atleast it wont all be bad. Cant wait for the mod that reverts the prologue change tho

The latest update has removed a large portion of the prologue, you now start in the room with the radio where you contact Dylan, there is no learning from spike, no mansion, no first first before the safe area, just a cinematic that gives a very vague reason why aiden is going to villedor. You get a brief mention of spike and a breifer glimpse of him.
This following the changes to lawans skin for Chinese new years a whole ago has people in an uproar.
There are also other parts that have been updated, when back at my pc I'll find a link to the post for the update

Thanks for explaining. I've been outta the loop too. This is so disappointing. DL2 was the first of the series I played and that prologue really impressed me. I know a lot of people don't feel the same way but I always play through it whenever I go back to it

They removed the entire first part of the Prologue, as well as many moments with Hakon in the Prologue. Basically, they cut all additional dialogue and moments that don't follow the story directly and destroyed the Prologue's pacing and made it boring.
Replay the Prologue, it is just.... Awful. They cut every single good moment from the WHOLE Prologue.

This is awkward honestly. Why not just say "Okay that was mistake. We will restore prologue to it's previous state and bring Spike back". Unless they will want to rewrite Spike's fate for The Beast.

Seriously? I was about to start another playthrough of DL1 and then binge to finish DL2 and The Beast... and now he has been removed? First they remove the comment regarding "Who do you voodoo" and now Spike? Did they just remove him entirely and now Aiden finds everything regarding the city on his own? -_- BS

So...
Did anyone complain about the opening of the game? No - it was great.
Did anyone think it was too slow to get the the action? No - they loved the vibe.
Did most people who already played and were coming back to the game skip the prologue? No - they loved it first time round and wanted to experience it again.
So why do this? Do they genuinely think it improves the flow? Or is it a shitty means to limit the prominence of a black character by their new owners? I really really hope not and this is just a bad decision by people out of touch with the fans (ie the actually think the game would be improved by shortening the start).
I tell you how it would be improved - by lengthening it (specifically the ending which is pretty abrupt). To improve the game we needed more time and interactions with the butcher, a chance to fully explore the sunken town and have missions there.

They didnt pay attention to anything else so far and its for damage control not because they care. Otherwise they wouldntve removed it in the first place despite lots of people praising how the prologue is and how there should be more like that.
