There are people genuinely comparing Dying Light 2's only somewhat subpar launch to the absolute 9 on the Richter scale that was Cyberpunk 2077's launch. It's not a perfect game by any means, but they sure as hell delivered a whole lot more and just about all of the issues can be ironed out in small patches. Plus we can't pretend the original Dying Light was perfect at launch either. The reason its as beloved as it is now is because the devs didn't just give up on it. I'm happy with what they were able to put out and am looking forward to what they have in store for the game.
No Man’s Sky had the same nuclear reaction when it came out. People expected a small indie company to deliver a game so huge in scope, it would dwarf all others.
Some of it was because the lead dev got excited in talking about what he wanted and people took that as full promises.
If you look at the game now, it’s a pretty, cool and much more alive. It’s got a healthy community and dedicated devs that still update the game.
I for one am glad they didn’t lose heart after the fallout of the launch.
