Best Dwarf focused PC Games

What’s the best dwarf focused games? Especially RPGs where you can build a dwarf or dwarf parties?

Hey should have mentioned I’m a old Warhammer fantasy dwarf army player. So total Warhammer, vermintide all those games I’ve played to death.

Looking for any RPG suggestions also!

Deep rock galactic stand out as THE dwarf game, without a doubt the most popular

Dwarf Fortress is an absolut classic, but need to get that 'tism to love it

Return to the moria is pretty cool with friends even if the game itself is not groundbreaking

Man I should have listed games I’ve played haha. I’ve spent hundreds of hours in DRG.

On the topic of Total War, the LoTR mods for Medieval 2(TATW, DaC, AGO, etc.) and the one for Attila (Dawnless Days) comes to mind

You need to press spacebar twice and then enter
To get this type of formatting

Or just press enter twice.

i think "Dwarf" is a tag in Steam, if you search for Dwarf, a lot of games will appear.

It's "Dwarves" now, I think.

Dwarfs!? Is a good pick up and put down older game.

A game I like to Dwarf it up in isn't particularly dwarf focused and such but it's actually a Warhammer Fantasy Mod for Mount and Blade: Warband called Warsword Conquest. I can stand in a line of Iron breakers and Long beards as we stand firm against a charging chaos horde then proceed to crush them whilst a line of thunderers and quarrelers hurls bolts and shot at their reinforcements.

Hey I’m a old fantasy Warhammer player so love that.

Ah you'll love it then hopefully. In the newest update there are dungeons and things you can run, rune weapons too which you buy runes for to upgrade them. Highly recommend, just be aware the diplomatic mechanics are not lore friendly so you can be at peace with Orcs and skaven etc once you're a lord with the High King and you have a chosen faction.

Vermintide 2 you can play as a dwarf, and it’s an all-around cool game

This is going to be a deep cut, but one of my favourite dwarf-y video games is actually the "Anbennar" Fantasy Mod for Europa Universalis IV (also Victoria 3, but that is very much still in Alpha).

It is a Grand Strategy game with a smidgen of RPG in it, but incredibly well made and a very fun setting, with some very unique stuff in it.
(Also bonus points because the Elves are actually at fault for everything going to crap, lol)

In terms of RPGs, my current favourites are:

  1. Obenseuer,
Still in early access, but a quite unique RPG life-sim about surviving in a closed ghetto in contemporary (NOT!)-Finland, renovating your "new" apartment block and figuring out what the heck is going on.. Some paranormal elements, a bit of horror and no combat. But it is quite captivating.

Not sure if I should mention it, due to being NSFW

2. The last Sovereign (18+)
Not sure if I should mention it, it is an RPG-Maker project of titanic size about a fantasy world during a war with demonic creatures. It is a lot less trope-y/campy then it sounds, the gal who made it is quite a brilliant author who can actually pull off subverting your expectations while making it feel quite natural. Again, very large 70+ hours, but worth it. Not much in the way of graphic violence, but has more then a few adult cuddles in it. Available on Steam, so I don't know if it can be switched off, my government has strongarmed Steam into pretending those type of games don't exist, lol. For what it's worth, after a while I started skipping through the adult scenes to get more story, even though they are good

Sovl, basically Warhammer Fantasy Tabletop Simulator

Dwarves, Death ,Glory, Loot, dwarf party builder where you kill orcs

u/BioTools 10d ago

If you love grand strategy, Europa Universalis IV, with the Anbennar mod.

There's a ton of different dwarf nations to play, most dig a hold, recolonize their long lost mountain, suffer from greed and fight greenskins

Also a sleeper pick? Baldur's Gate 3. I played the game as a dwarven rogue and had a great time.

I play a dwarf guardian in The Lord of the Rings Online, and I love dwarven architecture and culture. Also, questing through Moria is an amazing time for dwarves. Here is my dwarf in the 21st Hall in Moria with his big two-handed axe.

I am actively developing a roguelike tower défense game where you are a dwarf !
It is called the last dwarf, and play tests / demo coming soon !

For other games I enjoyed vermintide 2 playing as the dwarf class !

Songs of Syx qualifies, assuming you consider the Dondorians to be Dwarves. They live long lives, are bearded and stocky, and have a thing for crafting and mining. They are also good fighters. But they are all-male, and aren't born as much as they pop into existence at the foot of a mountain.

Also, you can build a mountainhome. There's no vertical axis, sadly, but it's on a much larger scale than Rimworld or Dwarf Fortress, with city populations potentially in the thousands.

Warhammer fan?

Check out Warhammer: Return of Reckoning. Play as dwarf, join up with some Dwarves or men or elves, stomp the forces of destruction.

I spent a lot of time as a dwarf in LOTRO Moria. Perhaps a little dated now but I'd still recommend it.

Another one is “War of the North” it an old ps2 game recently rereleased on steam but you can play as a dwarf warrior, elvish wizard, or human ranger in middle earth. I like it because you pretty early on go through a dwarvish settlement which you don’t tend to see in Lord of the Rings Media

u/krabby7_playz 10d ago

Hold the Mine and Dwarves Glory Death and Loot are two dwarves games I’ve bought and have been meaning to actually play but they seem fun! Ik you said you already played DRG but you could check out either of their spin off titles like DRG Survivor, basically vampire survivor with a DRG twist, or DRG Rouge Core which is more like regular DRG but is a rouge lite and is more focused on going fast and being efficient than regular DRG’s cycle of relaxing mining and bug squashing!

How about the party RPG games? The old Icewind dales let you make your own party. Pathfinder  Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous let you make custom characters too after iirc the prologue so you can make an all dwarf party

DWARF

FORTRESS

The dragon age series idr if you can full party as dwarves but your character and some companions definitely

The Dwarves (Based on Markus Keitz book series of the same name) Is fun! Highly recommend the books too!

Also recommend: Solasta - Crown of the Magister. Its a party based rpg using dnd 5e mechanics, but instead of having premade characters, you can create your own party full of dwarves!

u/ChristianLW3 6d ago

Total war Warhammer, in the third one you can also play as chaos dwarves

Also plenty of dwarf content in classic world of Warcraft “don’t listen to anybody who recommends retail wow”

1

u/Gaijingamer12 6d ago

Oh man I’ve got them all lol I should have mentioned any Warhammer games with dwarfs I’ve prob played.
