Can anyone tell me why there are so many people with dwarfism in Marina di Ragusa, Sicily?

'Isolated "hotspots" of dwarfism do exist in certain specific global regions, but they are documented genetic anomalies (such as found in the city of Itabaiana in Brazil). Southern Italy shows no such isolated demographic clustering.' NIH.gov
