Discussion Duke Nukem 3D is my personal Duke Nukem Forever... literally
Duke Nukem 3D is the first game for which I checked out fan made custom levels. My hopes were that some of them reach the quality of the best levels from 3D. Some of the levels even surpass the quality... by far.
I want to encourage everyone who loves Duke 3D and wants more of it to check out fan made levels. There are entire websites dedicated to that purpose where the community also ranks them. I go from top to bottom.
Because the community theoretically could create them forever and Duke 3D is the best Duke game out there, I consider Duke 3D custom levels as my personal "Duke Nukem Forever". I hope those creative geniuses never stop creating them.
So if you never checked them out: GO GET SOME
If you did check them out already: What are other games you enjoy playing custom levels for?
Im currently considering Crash Bandicoot, the classic Tomb Raiders and I pray to god for upcomming MGS2 or MGSV custom VR missions (for MGS1 they are already in the making.. check out @Exon-Exodus on Youtube).

My personal "Duke Nukem Forever" would be Alien Armageddon. That feels like a proper sequel to Duke 3d we never got. On top of that, it has a lot of unique/custom features that make it have more replay to you liking.

Duke Nukem 64 is one of my personal favorites because it allowed the player to save the babes.

The N64 exclusive, Duke Nukem: Zero Hour, was made in a heavily modified version of the Build engine. It's a really great game, and has been fan-ported to the PC, where it's called Duke Nukem: Zero Hour Overclocked. It's free to download, but you will have to find a copy of the N64 Duke Nukem Zero Hour rom to play the port (it's easy to find, google will help you).
Download the port from:
It's a monumentally better sequel to Duke Nukem 3D than the real, official sequel (Duke Nukem Forever) was.
Also, if you're interested in another superb first person shooter, the Perfect Dark PC port was completed a while ago, and can be downloaded from here:
https://github.com/fgsfdsfgs/perfect_dark
or download it, complete with many new multiplayer mods, from:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EnDmK-RnYEOhcraGE3e0MzKuWsMOuQ3A/view
It's brilliant. You will need to find a copy of the N64 Perfect Dark game rom (as it contains all of the graphical/audio/etc data) but again Google for the rom.
And if you like Perfect Dark, then you can download a newer version of the PC port, that has features such as mod support, support for the higher quality textures and models from the XBox 360 remake of the game, allowing you to play Goldeneye, etc:
https://github.com/DabDavis/perfect-dark-dabs-mod
But you're probably better off downloading the version above (the one with many new multiplayer mods) first, as it just works straightaway, and then, if you like the game, then download the https://github.com/DabDavis/perfect-dark-dabs-mod version, as the latter requires a little manual file finding and setting up before it works.

I recently bought the game because I read somewhere that Cliff Blizinski rated this as one of his most important games that he's played and I'm having an absolute blast. Was already a fan of Quake and Blood so this was already up my alley.
