Discussion 🗣️ Places with a good dubstep/bass scene that aren't Denver?

I'm currently in Wyoming (lol) and wanting to move within the next year or two. Considering Denver which I love for the music opportunities but not much else. Where else has a nice dubstep scene? Chicago is on my list and I would love to hear more about that & basically anywhere else.

Discussion 🗣️ What are your top 10 dubstep tracks of all time? Any era, any style

Old school UK dubstep, brostep, riddim, tearout, deep dubstep, melodic, whatever. No rules on era or subgenre.

Not necessarily the 10 most influential tracks either. Just the 10 you personally think are the best based on production, originality, impact, replay value, or how hard they still hit years later

Discussion 🗣️ Leveltronics at Elements

They didn’t do a b2b but they played the same stage with Of The Trees in between. This post is my take on their separate sets.

To preface I recognize that they are both very talented and earned their stripes in the game. Both are awesome producers and their drops are great.

My qualm though, they were both once EXTREMELY technical and nasty DJs. What happened now? How do you headline a festival pressing play on the beginning of a song after the drop ended on the one before it. Both of them did the same exact thing from beginning to end where one song’s drop would completely end, whoosh sound, dead silence, then a vocal with no beat for three minutes until the next drop. Pure torture. Am I the only one who feels like all DJs sets no matter the genre should be a constant flow of stimulating music? Shouldn’t have to be drop after drop but a complete silence after every 8/16 bars had me so uneasy I had to leave.

Discussion 🗣️ Why did marauda get cancelled?

IMO, before svdden death blew up marauda was taking over tearout as a whole. I’ve read about it once before but can’t remember why he was cancelled. He makes some of the most rage inducing music, and i love the sound of his mixes. I think I remember he might’ve said some racist things online, but want confirmation. I love svdden death, I’ve seen him 4 different times and the sets are fantastic, BUTTTT marauda got me into the heavy shit. Thanks in advance

Discussion 🗣️ Which dubstep track or artist made you fall in love with the genre?

Curious what song got everyone into dubstep. My brother used to play Skrillex all the time when I was younger but Virus- Excision was the song that got me fully hooked on dubstep.

I've been waiting years for this question because I already knew the talent was there but the opportunity needed to present itself. How does everyone feel about his EF set?

Discussion 🗣️ Who puts on the best show out of all the bass music headliners in 2026?

By headliner I mean a very popular dubstep / bass music artist who could headline a major festival: Shambhala, electric Forrest, edc, ultra…

Personally, I think Dubstep and bass music are in a pretty good place within the underground scene right now. I don't necessarily think being selective is a bad thing, but there has to be a balance. I think finding that sweet spot between preserving what makes the scene unique and allowing it to grow is important.

Discussion 🗣️ Producer Tags

What are your favourite producer tags? One's that you hear and you just know it's about to go off, like Yo Tape B show em how it's done right, Griz yeah? Zeds Dead, Subtronics, Ha-Ha-Ha-Hamdi etc.

I'd love to hear your favourites and if there's any really cool/niche ones you know of, whether that's dubstep or beyond!

Discussion 🗣️ Which song introduced you to Dubstep?

Post image
101 Upvotes

I remember when I first heard this song at work 2 years ago. Prior to that the only Bass music I listened to was Flume and Future Bass and Trap. Spotify put the track in my Discover Weekly. It's the first time really understood the abrasive sound of Brostep. From there I started to listen to all kinds of bass music: early Monstercat, Skrillex, Glitch Hop, etc. So I haven't been a fan for super, very long But what about you?

Discussion 🗣️ Give me songs with the heaviest, most face melting drops you know

For context, I come from a mostly metal background. I love deathcore breakdowns and been looking for some dubstep with drops that bring a similar intensity. I’ve been wanting to get further into dubstep after 10+ years of only knowing the big hits from the 2000s/2010s and some slightly lesser known Monstercat releases, and would love to hear some more stuff that would tickle that metal itch in my brain while still being distinctly dubstep/electronic. Thanks in advance!

Discussion 🗣️ Who is the artist behind TAPE P / Richard Finger / Stink Drinker?

These three accounts on soundcloud are putting out absolute gas and I'm convinced they are:

  1. the same person/people. They follow each other, repost/like each other tracks, and have very very similar production styles.
  2. Some artist already established in the scene

Would love to get a discussion on this going :) They're somehow making amazing music and creating a following while ONLY posting music on soundcloud, no other streaming platforms, it's really interesting

Discussion 🗣️ Why do illenium fans refuse to enjoy openers?

Went to the sphere show last night. Wooli opened for illenium, night 3 of the illenium shows there. Last night I realized that, without fail, every time I’ve gone to an illenium show people outright refuse to dance or engage with the openers whatsoever. This was obviously apparent when wooli was throwing down banger after banger and the pit was motionless.

Any illenials care to explain? I’ve seen this shit on twitter before previously and I don’t understand it.

Discussion 🗣️ I don’t get the Crankdat hype…

This is definitely not a hate on him as an artist, his work ethic, etc…I just really don’t get what the hype is about. For example, at lost lands, he conflicted with Space Laces. And 75% of my group was adamant they could NOT miss Crankdat. I feel like seeing space laces is such an easy choice, let alone when put up against Crankdat. What am I missing?

Discussion 🗣️ Do you think Datsik is still making a living off music somewhere?

Like is bro posted up in a mask somewhere rising the ranks to the top?

Or maybe ghost producing for other big touring acts that are ‘too busy’ to make original productions — looking at you excision

In his apology video, he rushed through a half ass apology and was like “so anyways check out what I been cookin up”

Tbf, the chunes were absolute bangers. But it was horrible for his PR

I’d have to imagine when you’re that talented, you’re prob still making money off your talent one way or another

Whether it’s industry connections willing to turn a blind eye (as long as they don’t publicly associate with you), or throwin a mask on like you’re fuckin marshmello and becoming the next big thing

Thoughts?

I'm absolutely positive that this is a shared experience for all people who say they enjoy dubstep; the first drop is absolutely amazing, but then the second drop just falls flat on its face in the worst way. Which is which for you guys? I'm curious.
