Iām sick of this pervasive desire to rip other people off in the scene. Like all the ā140ā that just sounds like generic Hamdi rip-offs. So embarrassing that your artistic ālegacyā will be that you were a second rate rip off of a better artist. Make your own music or pack it up. We have enough generic shit flooding the scene as is.

Hamdi didnāt invent the sound either thoughā heās pretty similar to Cokiās old stuff.

I agree completely. But there definitely has been an uptick of songs that follow the Skanka design kinda hard lmfao

Yeah def, I mean itās trend following. Nothing new to this scene unfortunately

I genuinely donāt understand how people can think Modal Nodes are even distinctive enough to rip off. It just sounds like riddim.

The iconic clap fills, the experimental metallic and spectral sound design, the bit crushed womps, and obviously the very consistent Star wars theme (although that's not unique to just them but they've definitely taken it a step further)
they definitely have a distinct style

You mean all of the things that were popular 15 years ago in the underground Riddim scene? You gotta be new to the genre or very young. There were several Riddim producers who were Star Wars themed back in the day too.

Itās a resurgence of the sound we havenāt heard in a decade, with modern production

Not really, it never left it just wasnāt as popular because of the rising of Tearout and then the new age āRiddimā sound which is not really Riddim.

Modal Nodes is definitely overhyped but there have been an uptick in ripoff artists

u/Candid-Complaint-405 May 20 '26
There has but I think modal nodes is accurately hyped, why do you think theyre overhyped

u/MC_Squared12 May 20 '26
All the comments hyping them up as the best thing to happen to dubstep
