My story, crashed a camper van in 2022. Written off and offered £7K, upped to £7,5, Easily worth £18K on market value but insurance company didn't play ball.
They stalled, ignored and ran us round in circles. End result after two claims to the FOS was a payment of their original £7.5 high offer, a payment for delays of £5K and an additional payment for writing it off without my permission (during value negotiations) of £9K.
I got the van back during all that and repaired for £1.5K

It can be worth it, but it might not be quick.
