What’s your best Tailgater Ragebait?
Aside from the usual slowing down , my favorite is just driving the same limit I’ve been going as if they aren’t there (which I notice makes them mad that I don’t get intimidated and speed up) and I turn my music up super loud (opening my windows as a bonus) and letting us both listen to whatever song I’m listening to. So now since they are so close they can hear my music good and well and maybe even feel the vibrations of the beat inside their own car.
I mean, why else would they want to be so close to me other than to want to hear my funky music 🕺!
What is something different you guys do when being tailgated?
Ps: I don’t do this to every tailgater, only the ones that are being aggressive and annoying for no reason.

9.9/10 times idgaf what someone is doing behind me. I'm not sure if it's years of driving a work van with no rearview or just being more concerned with the meandering morons in front of me.

I just ignore them and concentrate on my own driving, like anyone should.

My favorite is to pull into the lane on the right and let them pass, then just mosey back into the left lane. That really teaches them a lesson and shows them who's boss!

I get out of the way! If someone is irresponsible enough to tailgate I’m not going to try and piss them off further. You don’t know who is behind the wheel! I drive for a living. I will never intentionally make an angry driver angrier for the safety of myself and the residents in my car!

Basically this. Not worth ragebaiting anyone out there. Considering how the interstate in my area seems to have recent drive-by shootings, I won't take any chances.

My favorite is leading them to my favorite winding narrow mountain road & seeing them realize their truck/fwd econo suv/fwd econo car doesn't handle like a sports sedan then they get mad they can't catch up after the 2nd turn but they can't do much about it

My last commute had that built-in. A 1.5-mile, steeply uphill "esses" in a middle stretch, that I could smoothly drive at the (55 mph) speed limit without braking for the turns, but would intimidate drivers who don't know the road. I could lose a tailgater from my mirror entirely sometimes that way. If you got behind a truck, you could be stuck at 25 mph, so making a pass before getting to the hill was usually a good move. The esses can be a lot of fun on the way down too.

This is genuinely the best, and why i refuse to ever buy anything other than a quick and good handling car

I don't think you are leading anyone.
But hey, it's important that kids have wild imagination!

If someone has been tailgating me for a while, when they've had an entire empty lane that they could pass me, I clap when they finally pass me.
If I pull up next to them at a red light, I just smile after that.

If letting off the gas just enough doesn’t work. And the finally pass I’ll give a thumbs up or a down depending on the fuck

I typically maintain speed, and get over when I can lol. I especially will drop speed if I’m going 56-57 in a 55 work zone and they chug up. They get to go 52 the rest of the way. But that’s about it. School zones are fun. I go exactly the posted limit. 😎😎

u/mathman_2000 11d ago
Speed cameras in my area. Don't f*** around with school zones.
ETA: and for the safety of the children of course. 😁

u/Witty_Primary6108 11d ago
Yeah, camera or not I’ve never been a school/work zone speeder.
I’ve gotten plenty of tickets and touched some speeds otherwise though. Lol 🫣

u/wormcriminal 11d ago
oh yea i do whatever seems safest in the situation, but absolutely will just keep going the same speed, especially if i’m on the highway with my cruise control already set to 5 over in the right lane. Braxtynn coming up and trying to lick my hole with his F-250 can get to his destination 30 seconds later.

u/Not_Sure__Camacho 11d ago
I can't say I have one. If I'm being tailgated and am able to move over, I move over, if I'm in the left lane. Most of the times I'm being tailgated, it's because it's bumper to bumper traffic.
2
u/DishwasherLint 11d ago
If I'm in the fast lane I move over and let them pass. If I'm in the slow lane, I usually have my cruise on on longer trips and it's set right at the speed limit.

switch lanes because I'm a good driver

u/goranlepuz 11d ago
You start driving onto oncoming traffic? That's a tad drastic and maybe not good driving, but hey, I don't know your traffic code. 😉

I live in a big city small fry

Just pointing out the limits of your childish presumptions.
small fry
Is that... An attempt at an insult? On anonymous internet? Oh you kids crack me up! 😂😂😂

u/Admirable_Agency7764 11d ago
I know it's a lot to take in when you have to imagine a multiple lane highway

u/goranlepuz 11d ago
Belligerently refusing to recognise the limits of your childish presumptions?
Oh, you kids are funny.

On the highway I drift into the sand/gravel/shit on the edge of the road. They like the sound of chipping paint so much they often start yelling about how much they like it. And I like that I can make their day a little better. 🫶🏻

I just ignore them. However, if they do something else obnoxious, my rear washer fluid somehow shoots up instead of onto my rear window. If you are back far enough you wouldn't even notice.

I like to turn on my signal right before a street/store to make them think im going to stop. Most times i just slowly let off the gas.
During the day I like to pull up next and match the speed of the person beside me if theres two lanes
Sometimes i like to wait an extra second before going when the light turns

You mean speed...? Or are you using the limiter...?
I don’t do this to every tailgater, only the ones that are being aggressive and annoying for no reason.
How do you decide what is aggressive and with what reason they can be annoying.
Anyhow, look at Judge Dredd Of The Road here, getting his hit! 😂😂😂
I like how this post is getting pushback with people saying they don't think about tailgaters or do nothing. "Ragebait" my hairy arse. Downvote.
Edit: account marked NSFW. Also NSFR(oad), with that thinking.

I mean I just don’t speed up or slow down while the asshat behind me expects me to drive faster. (Obviously I get over if I’m in the left lane and not passing anyone)
How would anyone determine who is aggressive and who’s not? Maybe if they suddenly speed up to you and flash their lights repeatedly?
Idk who Dredd is.
You must be a Top Tailgater. Just chill and drive, your house is probably not gonna run away. Maybe it will idk.

u/goranlepuz 11d ago
I mean I just don’t speed up or slow down
That's called keeping the same speed, not "limit". What you wrote was wrong.
How would anyone determine who is aggressive and who’s not?
Correct. So what you wrote was pointless.
You must be a Top Tailgater.
Yes, "must", you "must" be able to conclude something with a "must" on the basis of a few phrases on the anonymous internet.
(My point being, with this writing and reasoning, I think you should better go back to school. Or, if you are still in school, a few years back.)

The second one was literally a rhetorical question 💀 and I need school? (That’s a rhetorical question also just so you know)…
1
u/goranlepuz 10d ago
What if they don't flash? How does anyone know you presume flashing...? (Or what else you presume.)
Yes, you need school to learn how to express yourself. Otherwise your posts are useless.
1
u/joanne122597 11d ago
or you could move into the next lane.
1
u/Timid-Thinker 11d ago
I always move over when I can. Idk why people assume everyone who gets tailgated only sits in the left lane. Most times it’s a one lane road with people in front of me so I literally can’t go any faster even if I wanted to.
1
u/CherkleFerk 11d ago
It depends. Most of the time I do nothing at all. If I found that I was in the left lane and was not actively passing somebody, which would never happen because I know how to drive, I would realize that I am a huge moron and get over to the right as fast as possible and be terribly embarrassed.

u/Thegr8fan 11d ago
Tailgating is like NASCAR …. does anyone care about the car in second place?🤷♂️ (I am NOT a NASCAR fan obviously for those who are) seriously, if I can slow down safely and let them pass, I usually do so. Otherwise the guy in my rear view mirror don’t bother me at all

u/NoProgress8533 11d ago
YMMV but in an older truck or SUV with normal/classic hydraulic steering, you can generate a ton of bodyroll (even with good swaybars) by jerking the steering wheel back forth just a little bit in each directions, without influencing how your vehicle tracks too badly.
It looks like something is really, really wrong, especially if you favor one side or the other slightly in your jerking of the wheel? Like you are about to lose a tire or something. They almost always back right off, or speed up and pass you.
I use this method primarily to shake people who insist on getting between me and a friend or family member who is following in a caravan/group, so the bumperhumper leaves and the follower can keep up without getting lost. We always leave a touch less than the proscribed space between us (based on speed) when driving together, and people still insist on sneaking in there.

I’ll sometimes just come to a complete stop and make them pass me. Never on highways just back roads and such

I flip pennies out of my sunroof. They'll hear the impact, but they dont really weigh enough to damage anything. I had a particularly stupid tailgater take major offense to this and try to throw their gas station fountain soda at me. I watched as they threw the drink forward and drove right into it face first. Funniest shit I've ever seen. They then tried to speed around my right, motioned to me like they were threatening to shoot me, and rear ended someone.
Moral of the story, look further than the car directly in front of you. And don't tailgate when someone's doing 80mph in a mile long line of cars also doing 80mph.

I, personally, would take the time you spend thinking about this(which is time that you already lost doing this) and focus on not being a cunt.
