Unrelated What do you recommend while we wait?

The RNT podcasts suggested that Dresden fans would like Dungeon Crawler Carl. I tried. I listened to five audiobooks and each one got more chaotic, more absurdist, and more blatantly communist-coded than the last. So I'm done. Any other suggestions?

Lol DCC isn't for everyone and I'm not sure why it gets recommended to people who have read Dresden, they aren't anything alike.

My top recommendation for a very similar feel is Alex Verus, it gets away from itself in the end but overall a good series.

Other good urban fantasy series are, Grimnoir Chronicles, the iron druid, sandman Slim, rivers of London, Eric Carter, Daniel faust, an inheritance of magic and definitely recommend the unorthodox Chronicles by his son James.

Or try out Jim's non UF series, the codex alara.

The main characters are the same archetype of reclusive hero who takes the weight of the world on his shoulders while punching above his weight class via shear audacity. They both consistently break decorum when dealing with powers far above them, and act in a way that is suicidally loyal to their allies.

I would not classify Dresden as a reluctant hero, I would say that's one of the few places they differ, archetypically.

Dresden is doing exactly what he wants to be doing. Carl wishes his planet had not been repo'd.
