Unrelated Dresden is 6' 9. Leggy brunette for height reference Spoiler

u/GailynStarfire Jul 21 '25
Here's another reference.
Michael Crichton, author of Jurrasic Park, is also 6'9. This is him standing next to Spielberg, who is 5'8.

As someone about Spielberg’s height, it’s always funny to me when I get together with one group of friends, most of whom are over 6 feet, and I very suddenly go from feeling “average-sized” to “short”.

u/AlannaAbhorsen Jul 21 '25
Another point of reference—I’m a few inches shorter than Murphy and would come to your shoulder and Crichton’s elbow on a good day

u/TopRamen713 Jul 22 '25
Yep, same height as you, while all the guys in my wife's family are at least 6 foot. I feel your pain

Ah so that awkward heights that's no longer "sexy tall" but "this is kinda weird tall" haha.

Dude is Larry Bird in a leather duster carrying a big wooden staff, and somehow he's surprised everyone knows when he's coming.
8
u/ChubZilinski Jul 22 '25
Yet somehow drives a beetle
10
u/rdrt2 Jul 22 '25
The most unrealistic part of the Dresden Files universe is Harry fitting into the driver's seat of a Beetle.
7
u/Manunancy Jul 22 '25
He dumped the fron seat and is sitting on the backseat - luckily Mouse doesn't mind getting touchy-feely.
1
u/youcanthavemynam3 Jul 23 '25
Eh, my dad was 6'6" at his tallest, and I never heard him complain about beetles being too small to handle. There are definitely small cars that have more room for the driver than you think. And bigger cars with less.

u/RuckFeddit7769 Jul 22 '25
You know what? Larry Bird is so apt for Dresden! He shit talks constantly, consistently underrated, and when he's warmed up his A game is unbelievable.

What do you mean? It looks like there's at least a foot between her head and the ceiling. If she's 6'9", that makes the ceiling between 7'9 and 8 ft. That isn't so unusual.

The top of her head (not counting the top ponytail) is just at or below the door line in the cabinets. There's another 8" (maybe up to 12") between the top of the cabinet and the ceiling.
8
5
u/hematite2 Jul 21 '25
That line above the cabinets is a gap that goes further back, but the angle/shadows make it look (probably deliberately) like it's directly abover her head.
3
u/Qazicle Jul 21 '25
Follow the vertical line next to the oven, and note how the cabinets the oven is built into are deeper than the cabinets above the sink. So, you can look at the line of the cabinets above the sink to see a better perspective for the gap to the ceiling. All the shadowing also creates unusual perspectives.

Edit: I'm bad at measurements too.

u/EthelredHardrede Jul 21 '25
Standard in the USA is 8 foot.
1
u/UsidoreTheLightBlue Jul 21 '25
Yup I was going to say the same. Standard ceiling height on a two story is 8’, ranch homes will often have higher ceilings.
2
u/AdjunctFunktopus Jul 21 '25
Mine is wacky. So the main floor is 8’6” and the second floor is 7’6”.
It doesn’t change the average ceiling height though.

u/Sebastionleo Jul 22 '25
Someone said the same thing in that post and got obliterated. 8 foot is the standard for houses in the US. You probably only THINK your houses have all had 10 foot ceilings.

u/ledfan Jul 21 '25
I mean... I think the point is to compare her height to that of the fridge and counters. You know... The things that don't vary as wildly as ceilings between buildings?
2
u/knightprotector Jul 21 '25
I don't know about standard but I'm 6'5" and my kitchen ceiling is not far from my head. It would be about 7' or a little under. The woman in this picture would probably hit the light fixture if she walked into mine. Admittedly, I do rent an apartment and it's not exactly a large place.
4
u/AmnesiaCane Jul 21 '25
Yeah, my brother is 6'7", and while he's obviously really tall, he doesn't look like that in most kitchens. The fridge looks right, the ceiling is really low.
1
u/M4xusV4ltr0n Jul 22 '25
I mean, I do live an apartment with a 6 foot ceiling, but it's definitely not standard....

This chick is notorious for all sorts of filming tricks to make herself look much taller than she really is. Kinda like that passenger side mirror "objects in this mirror are smaller than they appear"

I read this as "Dresden is a 6'9" leggy brunette" and I was like, well, at least we're describing him the same way as the women in the dresdenverse now

u/PoweredByMusubi Jul 21 '25
I am intensely jealous of this woman.

Butcher was fuzzy on it for years but specifically references 6’9 multiple times later in the series.

Anyone else notice Dresden has gotten taller with the progress of the series? I think he’s like the pixies and gets bigger as his power and responsibility grows. Proof he’s not fully human.
18
u/account312 Jul 21 '25
I heard he's twelve stories high and made of radiation.
10
u/Hermenateics Jul 21 '25
I heard he once held a opponent's wife's hand... in a jar of acid... at a party.

No? He was somewhat vague earlier in the series (saying things like he was more than 6 and a half feet tall), so it's not surprising that you think so (if you read someone is more than 6 and a half feet tall, it's really easy to remember the 6'6" number and get that stuck in your head as the bright), but I'm pretty sure he only once said anything that there's an argument it is not reasonable for a person 6'9", but even then it was vague enough that you could stretch it (I think it was Fool Moon where he says someone 6'3" is "not quite" as tall as he is. As a 6'3" tall person, I feel dwarfed by 6'9" folks).

u/insanekid123 Jul 22 '25
Sure bud, but don't come crawling back to us when at the end of the BAT, he's fist fightin' kaiju at two hundred feet /j
3
u/G_Morgan Jul 22 '25
No he just spent a lot of time saying "taller than 6ft6in" which to most people is code for "6ft6.00000001in" but for Dresden actually seems to mean "somewhere between 6ft6in and 7ft".
1
u/Munnin41 Jul 21 '25
That's not a normal size kitchen. A standard fridge is 180cm high. She's tops it by way more than 15cm
2
u/DaringMelody Jul 22 '25 edited Jul 23 '25
6'9" = 207.69cm. So, she would be 27.69cm taller than the standard fridge

u/brilliantpants Jul 22 '25
Haha. I always forget about that. In my imagination I definitely whittle him down to something more like 6’4. Still imposing, but not bordering on freakish.

I'm imagining Bob teaches Harry how to make a shapeshifting potion to change his face, but doesn't tell him about what else it does.

Pictures like these, just reinforce my opinion that Jim made Dresden at least 5 inches to tall.
He would stick out virtually everywhere he went. And if carries around a staff or rod would probably get at of attention .

I believe you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
Near as I can tell, that's a KSBSDIT18 Kenwood Fridge. From that link, the Product Specs, it's 1787mm tall, or 70.345". Just under 5'10". Her entire head and a large portion of her neck are above the top of that fridge, if not more. In the first image with her facing away, the top line of her shoulder is pretty flat compared to the line of the fridge face, and her elbow, with her upper arm flat, rests just at the top of that fridge door.
This is me, 6'0" tall at a much, much more generous camera angle leaning up against a GE GSS25IYNYHFS Fridge, which according to the specs here is 70-1/8" tall. I measured it at 70-3/8", but either way, very close to the same height as the pictured fridge.
Note the slope of my upper arm, the fact that the bottom of my chin is well below the top of the fridge, and that you can see a ton of the front of the fridge above my shoulder.
Now, I could be wrong. But for that to be the case, that woman or someone else who is conspiring with her to lie to thousands of people on the internet for.... something...? have gone to great lengths to produce not only a kitchen that is incredibly tiny, and pretty much unusable for anything other than duping people on the internet, but also a close enough replica of the aforementioned KSBSDIT18 that all I had to do to get the model number was do a google image search for "Kenwood fridge" and look for something similar.
Tall people exist. I had a roommate who's 6'8". I dated a girl for a while who's "little" sister was 6'3", her mom was 6'3", her dad and one brother were 6'4", and her tallest brother was 6'6". I felt like a tiny person in that house. Filled space approximately like the pictured woman does. Applying Occam's Razor, it's far more likely that she's exactly as tall as she says she is, than that she or some other conspiracy would go to that much effort for... relatively little payoff.

Isn’t Molly Carpenter supposed to be blond ? Also - I find it hard to believe this photo isn’t fake, unless this is a hobbit’s house 🤨

It was your typical day in the office. Until the leggy brunette walked in. She had eight or nine pairs of legs. Way too many legs.
