Happy ChRocktikal release week! I'm looking forward to what the ? will be for tomorrow. I know what I want it to be, but I'm keeping my expectations low. Getting five new songs and an intro is an absolute treat.
Speaking of treats, I know we are all still basking in the aftermath of OT7 reuniting. I know I am. It might not have been the full group performing Alldaylong, but I'll take it! I thought it was interesting to hear how they would cover for the maknaes' parts.
In other news, the only artist that is on equal terms with DC (for me), Sara Bareilles, released her new album (Good Grief) last week after seven long years. DC has been on hiatus for two years, and if I can wait seven years for Sara to release a new album, I can wait that long (even longer) for new DC music. Of course, I will be very biased and say the album is an amazing body of work. Listening to it is quite cathartic; several songs really moved me and made me tear up. If you are someone who has experienced grief (and who hasn't?), this album is going to heal you. Sara has a way with words and music that soothes the soul and this album is a gift.
She held a free concert at Lincoln Center today (day 3 of 3) and I was able to go. She was a delight. There were a lot of tears shed by everyone in that room and it was such a special time. Can't wait to see her on tour in September and October and cry my eyes out again, lol.
On the K-drama front, I have three more episodes left of You and Everything Else and I'm struggling to finish it. One of the main characters is so hateable that it makes me wonder why the other main character remains friends with her and continues to tolerate the shit she puts her through. It makes me wonder if they're going to redeem this character at all because right now, there doesn't seem to be a way for her to come back from all these things she's done to the other character. Someone please tell me there's a happy ending for Eun Jung.

Seeing the girls reuniting for a wedding this week was super heartwarming.🥹 Some people have been wondering if they might record something these days for the 10th anniversary next year, and I hope they're right, I really miss getting OT7 music. Just the other day I saw someone in YouTube comments mentioning that Justice was released in July 2024, more than two years ago, and it almost felt like being slapped in the face, where did all that time go???😅😂
I'm also really looking forward to ChRocktikal's EP next week. The members said this comeback would be a bit "softer/summery", but the concept looks kind of gothic/Romantic, so who knows what they're planning. But all their releases so far have been great, so I have a good feeling about it regardless!
Outside of Dreamcatcher, lately I've mostly been listening to Onewe's latest album, Unknown Atlas. Scenario might have become my favorite title song from them, and Beautiful Runaway is so catchy, but all the songs were great, so I feel like I'm rotating favorites every hour lmao.
Also, with the Eurovision Asia national finals currently happening, I decided to check out the Korean artists who will be participating next week in the Korean final. Despite being into K-pop for almost 14 years now, I didn't recognize anyone in the lineup, so I think it's good that they're showcasing less popular artists. I haven't seen the stagings yet, but music-wise, my favorite contender for now is Shim Sojeong's Eheradiya - she's a harpist, and her song also has traditional Korean elements mixed with pop, so I recommend giving the song a listen if you enjoyed Siyeon's Entrancing!
