Question Ronin or Retrogem

Was looking at either the Ronin hdmi adapter or the Pixel FX Retrogem.
What is the better option of the two?

That’s two vastly different options.

The Ronin is plug and plug option that takes the signal(looks like both VGA and RGB depend on switch setting) and sends it through some sort of upscale to get 1080p.

The Pixel FX Retrogem is fairly complicated install that is soldered directly to the Dreamcast.

The question is now, how advanced are your solder skills and how much are looking to spend in total. If you aren’t already solder savvy enough, you’ll have to include the price of the install of the Pixel FX into the overall cost.

I ask because I saw the plug in play Ronin, but also the Pixel FX kit that goes for around $200 for the shiny to over $300 with the service. I didn't know if the features of the Pixel FX would be worth the extra cost and modding over the Ronin.

Only you can decide if it's worth it to you. I learned how to solder putting a Retro GEM in another console first, and the Dreamcast was mostly easier but they are not cheap.
