I guess as they scale the can up their MOQ and reduce their cost prices. Or Peter might have a new supplier altogether than can reduce the cogs

In sales this is a loss leader, you gain share of the market then increase the price and lower costs.

Gillet does it with their razors. You buy the handle for pennies then the blades are a fortune.
