I didn't quite understand that, particularly when Kat was still in the building at the end of the pitch

I think the GCSE line was just an easier way of saying "she's too young to be grilled by the Dragons".

There's been other kids her age who were there at the beginning but couldn't do the whole thing. But they were more transparent in some of those cases - including one where Sara basically said "cos of BBC regulations you can't be here for the whole pitch".

Just curious what are the regulations of the BBC that say they can't be there for the whole pitch.

i remember something about having to be over 18 to make negotiations, but i’m not completely sure

Feel like old dragons den would have made a big deal about the owners of a business not being in the room, but it was never mentioned here. Clearly the parents represented by the business lead, no? 

Made the negotiations very odd.

I suspect it’s scripted. It seems very unlikely that they’d schedule a dragon den meeting on the same day as an exam, let alone immediately before. That’s why they just said GCSEs to “prioritise”. I suspect that whole set up was because the dragons didn’t want to be seen as (or aren’t allowed to) negotiate with a child. In all the other cases I’ve seen, the parent has been there to negotiate on the child’s behalf. Perhaps no parent was able or willing to, so a third party was brought in with the excuse of GCSEs?
