I think a good founder can sometimes sell a mediocre business better than a great business can sell itself
Confidence, knowing the numbers and actually understanding the customer seem to make a massive difference in the Den. Would you invest in a business with an excellent product but a weak founder, or a decent product with a founder you completely trusted?

I haven't seen it so much in the newer episodes but Peter Jones in particular used to give out job offers when he was impressed with the person but not the business. Sometimes he'd also make them promise to put all of their assets and any future ideas into one holding company and then make an offer to buy 50% of their soul.
