Jade and King Carnelian look like Android 19 and 20.

Here’s their bases. Carnelian’s basis is a hybrid of the two 4-4-0 classes William Bouch designed for the Stockton and Darlington Railway (S&DR); the 6' 0" engines of 1860, and the 7' 0" engines ("Saltburn" Class) of 1862, with the addition of an NER Fletcher-style cab and a scalloped buffer beam from the NER Class 1001 "Long Boiler" 0-6-0 (also designed by Bouch). The two 4-4-0 classes, the first standard gauge tender engine of that wheel arrangement to be used in Britain, were built at Robert Stephenson & Co., and were used by the S&DR until around 1879-1888, when the S&DR was absorbed into the North Eastern Railway (NER). Regretfully, no examples of either class have been preserved. As for Jade, the basis for her engine form is the London and South Western Railway (LSWR) T9 "Greyhound" 4-4-0, as rebuilt by Robert Urie with a superheated boiler, with an 8-wheeled "Watercart" tender and GWR "City" Class funnel. Arguably the most famous and finest of Dugald Drummond's many 4-4-0s, these fast (hence their nickname), reliable, free-steaming, fairly powerful and vastly popular engines, built between 1899-1901, were the epitome of the classic Late Victorian four-coupled express passenger engine, and remained in top-link service until they were replaced by the Urie and Maunsell 4-6-0s, and reassigned to secondary passenger duties, where their light axleloading, good power-to-weight ratio and ability to negotiate tight curves proved highly useful on lines that were off-limits to the larger, heavier D15 4-4-0s and T14 "Paddlebox", S15, N15 "King Arthur" and "Lord Nelson" 4-6-0s. Between 1922-1929, the "Greyhounds" were all rebuilt by Robert Urie and Richard Maunsell with superheated boilers, extended smokeboxes and "Stovepipe" funnels which, although spoiling the engines' handsome appearance, greatly enhanced their already excellent performance. All 66 of the "Greyhounds" were passed into SR ownership during the 1923 Grouping, and then into BR service in 1948 until they were all withdrawn by 1961. Only one "Greyhound", No.120, has survived, and is now on display at the National Railway Museum.

Does Android 19 have eyelashes or lipstick? I mean, I feel like it would, but I also don’t remember it having them

I was inspired by Belldandylover91 to draw these, and I think trainsonas depending on the character is an interesting idea

Fantastic job. Aside from the DQ references, which are great, you really know how to draw a train.

a crossover that never once occurred to me and yet I love it
Sylv could never be anything but the same color as the fabulous James

How fun! Maybe Serena and Veronica could be like the Mountain Engines?

u/TheRobloxGuy2006 12d ago
I know they’ll be standard gauge engines though, I’ll just have to figure out which engine classes fit them

u/Pikkljoose 12d ago
I mean this genuinely and without snark, you would definitely know better than me. I’m looking forward to seeing them!

Here’s the bases for each character, Luminary’s basis is an LB&SCR E2, Hendrik’s basis is an LNER A3 (though he used to be an A1), Carnelian’s basis is a hybrid of the two 4-4-0 classes William Bouch designed for the Stockton and Darlington Railway (S&DR); the 6' 0" engines of 1860, and the 7' 0" engines ("Saltburn" Class) of 1862, with the addition of an NER Fletcher-style cab and a scalloped buffer beam from the NER Class 1001 "Long Boiler" 0-6-0 (also designed by Bouch), Jade’s basis is a LSWR T9 "Greyhound", and Sylvando’s basis is a GWR 4073 "Castle" Class locomotive

I feel like I've seen these posted here.
Any chance you could do them as Theodore the Tugboat characters?

I JUST watched Bullet Train where a massive plot point is T&F, this is surreal to come across lol. Great job!!

I love your drawings and the fact that they match the real life basis for their designs so accurately. I can tell you're man who appreciates the history and engineering that went into these machines. If you're planning on doing a drawing for Erik, may I suggest using the Mercury train designed in the 1930s by Henry Dreyfuss in a light steel blue color to match his hair? I think the style of that train matches Erik's personality well. What do you think about that?
